Vegetables, and water are about the best. I was diagnosed with diabetes about 3 years ago the foods i stay away from are anything with high fructose corn syrup in it. and some of the foods that i have cut down on are potatoes, Bread, I have also added a number of supplements to my diet. I got off the insulin, and other prescription medicine they had me on

The reason we have so much of this disease, I think, is because we get too much sugar and not enough activity. Diabetes wasn't common a hundred years ago because people had to physically work for living and there was very little processed food. Sticking to the basics, avoiding processed foods, eating in moderation and exercising should help people avoid this disease. In fact, if we lived life more like our ancestors did we would avoid a lot of grief. Cancer, diabetes and other diseases were very rare back then.

Yes. anything synthetic will have some kind of adverse effects. there are few natural foods that need to be avoided as in a diabetic situation the ability of pancreas to create the insulin stops or reduces. the modern treatment for diabetic itself is faulty as it just suppresses the blood sugar using artificial insulin rather than activating the pancreas. Chemicals cannot substitute the real. So my suggestion will be to consume those which are healthy for the overall body. There are medicines in ayurvedic and homeopathic systems that activates the pancreas to produce sufficient insulin. injecting artificial insulin is a waste as it fill the coffers of the greedy pharma companies.

Try to have bitter gourd atleast once in two days. Cinnamon is also very good. In fact people who takes these things on a daily basis with a lot of physical exercises can stay away from having blood sugar. Reduce the intake of rice and bread.

Bitter Gourd is the main vegetable. I thought most of us in India knew this well. I was a bit surprised that no one above had suggested this. At least meapas knows it. People also drink its juice everyday. Take it daily for good effects.

Hi, I have type 2 diabetes and try to control it with medication. I attend a support group and go to regular meetings of a diabetes control program in a community centre. There is always a nurse and a dietician to answer questions and give suggestions. Basically we are advised to stay away from products made with with white flour an other processed foods that contain sugar. Good foods: Vegetables low on the glycemic index, such as green vegetables whole grain breads and pasta brown rice, red rice all types of lentils all types of beans tofu other soy bean products low fat cheese Skim milk no fat sour cream no fat unsweetened yoghurt natural sugar substitutes made from sugar but not sugar Stevia - sweetener made from the Stevia plant sweet potatoes or yams instead of white potatoes Most of all portion control.Best of luck. Lean meat, no fat, small portions less often

Oat based breakfasts are the best way to keep your blood sugar balanced throughout the morning. For other meals you should opt for meals made up of complex carbohydrates combined with some form of protein to keep your blood sugar at it's most stable. You might also find basing your diet on a low glycemic foods has a positive effect on your blood sugars. There are lots of books on this on Amazon or you can find the information on line. It would also be a good idea to see a doctor who can based advise you on the what you should be eating according to your daily routine.

It probably depends on what type of diabetes you have. I think in some cases it is very likely that it can be controlled with diet. I have heard that if you eat 6 small meals a day rather than 3 large it is better for you. Of course those meals need to consist of healthy foods and not junk or sugar loaded foods! A healthy balance can be achieved by eating whole grains, natural foods rather than a lot of junk that sends our body systems off into la-la land!

one can make his blood sugar drop by avoiding sweet foods even fruits. or a substitute can also be done like instead of mangoes he can have bananas. another is by eating bitter gourd this will reduce blood sugar level too.
