You decided to buy a lottery ticket. Much to your utter surprise and shock, your ticket was the one. You won a little over a million dollars. After you stop screaming, crying and informing your family, what are the next two things you would do?

First is of course think about how to keep the money, and the second thing's hire a security agent / guards.

Hi artistry, I would invest it well and probably look to invest in a few pieces of land a little out of the area and obtain building permits in readiness for prices going up when building re commences after these difficult times.
Then I'd go on a spree buying all the books and perfume I wanted, which are the things I hunger after which are out of bounds for the moment. I'm of course imagining here that I get to do this over the course of a child free weekend so I don't have to go all altuistic and spend it on my son, I just want a bit of 'me' money for a change.

Hi Artistry, I don't think the full Thea is really too much of a mouthful plus it adds extra letters to your post, you should see some of the names on here. I once worked in an office in the UK where the next office over won something called the Pools, and it was over £2 million which was a lot of money back then, they got something like £95,000 each. They were such a dull lot though that not one of them gave up their job or did anything exciting. If I'd have been next door and shared it I could have got into the slum landlord business, or rather bought up a few old houses to removate and sell on.

...Hi thea09, you think of everything :o). You are going to get your wish with the real estate, just hold on to your dream. I owed quite few properties at one tine, then physical problems caused me to divest. But real estate is always a great investment. Right now if you have extra money, I would start buying gold pieces
from a reputable company, probably the mint or its equivalent in Greece. Oh the t was an endearment not because it was long, sort of like a nickname :o).
I do that. Take care.

.....Hi there t,(hope it's alright to use t). Enjoy your free time. I would use the money for something I had always wanted as well, your idea sounds sensible, things will be turning round soon hopefully. I have a friend who won seven-thousand dollars on a scratch off ticket, I never asked him what he did with it, think I might. Take care.

...Hi there wmaths, thanks for your reply. I would hope that if it happens, it would be the beginning of a new, happy phase of your life. But some lottery winners have bad times with their winnings. They say money does not buy happiness, but I say let me see for myself :o). Take care.
