Did you have uniform when you were a student?

Was there uniform code in your school? What was it and what colours? I studied in a Government School, which was started in our new Government Quarters and the private schools were very far and my father was afraid of sending me so far. We did not have uniform and happily we wore whatever we wanted. What about you? Did you have uniform in your school? How were you feeling about it?

Yes. We used to wear school uniforms. Light blue top and Navy blue skirt. No tie or apron. Black shoes with navy blue socks on week days and white shoes and white socks on saturday. We enjoyed our uniform. Everyday my dad used to polish my shoes and he asks me to sit in a chair and with my dad's help i will wear my socks and shoes.

Hi Buchi, all the students studying in government schools here have to put on the uniform clothes. All primary school girls wear white blouse and dark blue skirts to schools. The boys pupils put on white shirt and dark blue short pants. The girls in the secondary schools put on white blouses and navy blue skirts. We can see the boys wearing white shirts and olive green short pants in middle schools. Upper form boy students are allowed to wear the same color long pants only. When I was in primary school I put on white blouse and black skirts. Nowadays not only all government schools having uniform clothes, the school buses as well having the same color. They are all available in uniform color of striking orange. All the factory buses here are blue in color. The could help the students to distinguish their buses easily and conveniently Happy posting

Very true. If the buses also carry the same colour, easy to identify for the children and also parents to collect their children from the road.

We could distinguish the primary school pupils from the secondary students by looking at their respective school uniform. Yeah, only the private school students have different color of school uniform respectively. The uniforms of the school monitors and librarians are a bit different by wearing ties or outer wears I have great interest to know about the school uniform of your place. The color of the school bus as well. It's not in hurry. Take your sweet time to share this during your leisure time Happy posting

You spend so much time for me every time you post, cannot I share few moments with you? My children used to wear dark brown pinnofer with white shirt for regular days and then white skirt and the colour of their house i.e. green house, red house yellow house and shirt as per that apart from kaki dress for NCC. They had white skirt and white and coloured checks shirt (as per their house) for school band. The shoes were black for regular, white canvass for sports. But it is different in different schools for ex. blue shirt, navy blue skirt and white shirt and so on. On the whole nice to see children on road with different colours of uniform. In college no uniform but dress code like no short and revealing dress etc. will be there. Have I did justice in giving information my friend?

Yes, we had uniforms, and we were very bored to wear it 12+ years but miss it now.It was a light grey skirt with white shirts and dark blue tie. Even when I went to college, a dress code was applied that year...how sad for as the colour was again dark grey colour, so again 6 years i have to wear the grey again, overall 18-20 years..GREY!

Yes, I've always had school uniforms ever since I became a student. We have school uniforms even until now. It was just a blouse with collars, and green slacks, I don't like it! Well, sometimes I feel lucky having a school uniform because I don't have to have too many clothes, but sometimes I don't like school uniforms because it can get uncomfortable.

There are advantages and disadvantages in wearing uniforms. We need not search for the dress while going to the school or college. We will keep three or four uniforms ready and we can wear it. The disadvantage is that everyday we have to wear the same type of cloth which will make us feel boring.

Hello Buchi_bulla. Back to those years when I was at school, I never wore school uniforms because we were not required to and we had never heard about one such thing as school uniform. I think that I was happy to wear any clothes I liked. Nowadays school students in most school are demanded to wear school uniforms. Some students don't like the idea, but they have to abide by it. But when holidays come, they wear their own clothes they like for a change. Good day, friend.

Hi jisir, while visiting your country. Not the place where you live. We was told that certain schools students wore their own clothes in a fixed day once in a week. It's really interesting But here in my place all the government school teachers have to put on the school teacher uniforms on a fixed day weekly. In the 1st and 15th of the month every teacher have to put on the clothes make from batik cloth. Batik is the popular local cloth product What about the clothes you wear to school. Happy posting

Hello lkbooi. I have worked in two different schools so far, but neither has ever asked us teachers to wear school uniforms because they don't have school uniforms for teachers. I don't know why. I would like to have them if we were provided with them. So all of us teachers just wear whatever we love to wear. I used to wear dress pants and shirts and suits, but my preference towards clothes has been changed a lot. Now I usually wear casual pants, jeans, casual shoes and shirts. I love to wear everything casual. Have fun, lkbooi.

I have never studied in a school wherein they don't require uniforms so yes, I wear a uniform up until now that I am in a university. When I was in elementary I wore this green checkered uniform. In high school, we wore brown long-sleeved uniforms with a white belt and a buckle in the middle of it. Now, in college, we wear a white uniform with a weird slit in the middle of the skirt. Our university requires different uniforms according to courses, so if you're there you could distinguish right away what course the students go to by their uniform.

Yes, it is quite organized that way :) And I would say the uniforms there were not bad. They kind of express something in a way. Haha. Take care! :)

hi buchi, way back in elementary we really have a proper dress codes everyday, we have our uniforms and we are obligue to wear them everyday, because we are a good student, we humbly follow the rules and regulations of the school.. until i reach high school, same we also need to wear them everyday and note with the ID on it.. same also in college, we do have to wear them or else we can't enter the campus, luckily we have a wash day, and that is during Wednesday, we can relax during that day because we can wear our precious civilian dresses.. janebeth.

Nothing to beat wearing regular dress, especially when we are regularly wearing uniform, and get a chance to wear regular dress one day, the happiness is superb.

Way back when I was in school, there was no set uniform. We only had a common sense uniform. Nothing too short, nothing offensive or provocative, that kind of thing. Well, my daughter is in the first grade now and her school is a dress code based public school. The students are supposed to wear black/navy/khaki bottoms and collared polo shirts or dress shirts. They are also allowed to wear school logo T-shirts but those are the only T-shirts that are allowed. At first when I found out that the elementary school that she was going to be attending was dress code based I was upset about it. Now, after a year of her wearing dress code clothing, I have come to really like the fact that they operate on a dress code. It makes getting ready for school in the morning easier and it also makes the kids calmer at school for whatever reason. I'm now of the opinion that all of the schools need to have a stricter dress code.

Dress code brings uniformity which is beautiful, oneness feeling that we all belong to the same school, easy to get the child ready in the morning, no difference in the minds of children.

I did have to wear a uniform going to school. It was a great idea. We got in trouble if it got messed up. Even if our nails were not clean we got in trouble. I think children today need to wear uniform. It would take away the idea of the girls trying to see who can dress better than who. Less fights between girls. The same goes for the boys. They would learn some respect for each other. We go to school to learn not for a fashion show. Happy lotting.

I wore uniform in school and I think it's important. Unfortunately, what someone wears can cause them to become bullied and so uniform is not only there to make someone look smart and make what school they are from easy to be identified, but to make them less prone to bullying. By the time they are in college, teens tend to be more sensible and therefore are less likely to pick on someone's clothing. I guess by then they are more socially aware too (know what clothing is respected and what isn't). So my school allows it's 6th formers to wear whatever they like, of course with the exclusion of overly-revealing clothing or clothing with insulting logos.

I think its a rule in every school in India. Although the uniforms are decided by the school. I think its a good rule. Students won't be thinking about what is fashionable and concentrating on life as a student.

Yes we did have unifroms in our school and that really made us not to think what should be done as far as our dresses were concerned, we just picked up got ready and used to run to our schools. We really did not ever think that we should not have uniforms.

When I was in highschool I studied at La Salle and the uniform color is green. It's okay since I was still in highschool but now I am in college and well se still have uniforms, it's okay in a way that most colleges have uniforms here but not still okay cause I'm much very comfortable when I'm not in uniform and all. It makes me a real college student.
