What do you think about forum contests?

There are many forum are offering contests to motivate members to make more quality posts, and i'm the one who like to involve in contests and make some extra money from them. Wondering any member are active in forum contests? DO you win any contests before? and what you think about forum contests?

I have never joined any forum contest, so your second question is irrelevant.
Running contests is one way to get more people to join the site, and to encourage current members to be more active. If we look at it from a different angle, it can be assumed that the site is fairly desperate to get new members. This is not surprising if the site is still new. But if the site has been around for more than six months, some serious thinking about its viability and sustainability should be carried out.
Currently there are many forums on the Web. A good site will be able to attract new members without having to offer contests to its members.

Not really. Maybe you are not active enough on forum. I'm one of the member of a big forum, the forum have more than 30,000 members, more than 1 millions thread,and this forum is very active and i can say almost all the webmaster or blogmaster know about this forum. However, there are many contests available.

If that is the case then it is a good motivational factor to get members to be active and make quality or good posts. With more than 1 million members presumably they have no cash flow problem, especially if the contests are free.
On a note of caution, maybe some contents are used by them somewhere else. Even if it is true, it is not really a big issue unless a contestant prefers to earn more from his oe her own writings. On the other hand it is nt wasy for a newbie to break through a writing market.

I've never heard of anything like that. Maybe if myLot ran a few we'd have some really interesting discussions!

There are many type of forum contests such as logo design, top quality posts, best thread, banner design etc. It is fun for me to join the contests, it make the forum look more interesting.
And i wish mylot can implement it but seems mylot wouldnt
