False Teachings?

I was always told that if you claimed God's protection over your family in the name of Jesus Christ that God would protect them. Well, that is simply not true. How many other things have we always been taught by pastors and ministers that are false?

And Jesus told us that through storms we shall pass. Sometimes pastors and ministers are just like the rest of us, they WANT to believe that God will protect them from all the bad things in this world. God does protect us, but not always in the way that we think He should. There is a plan, and sometimes for the plan to come to fruition, bad things happen. Just keep praying. And when in doubt, go look it up in the Word, not just the verse, but the whole chapter so you receive it in context. Oh, and read Job again.

I don't know the answer either. I just know that there's a path for me to follow, there is work for me to do, and I won't know when it's time for me to go until that day comes. As Christians, we aren't promised the easy road, despite what too many want to believe. I'm really sorry for your losses.

Even God the Father lost His own Son for our sake, for our salvation. Let us not ask why. Let us trust God, His thoughts are not our thoughts. In the end we will see that it is God's plan in saving our loved ones. Anyway we are only pilgrims and transients here on this world. Believers real home is in heaven. This is the hope of Christians and countless Christians have innocently perished around the world in different times in the hands of evil men but they willingly gave their lives because they have been expecting far greater promise of God in the life to come.

What we as Christians have to realize is that God's will is God's will. And things we consider to be bad or wrong will happen to us. People are murdered for being Christians everyday all around the world. Christians right now are in prison and tortured for their brave faith. They count it joy to suffer for Christ. Being saved is not a ticket to get out of hardship. We will suffer and God will be glorified through our trials. Praise Him.

I agree with you. Anyway, our real home is in heaven. We are only strangers here on earth.

Why do you say that this is not true? Do you know for a cold, hard fact that it isn't true, or are you basing your statement on a very few instances where it seemed like God wasn't there? I'm not picking a fight, I'm just curious as to why you think the way you do.

There are many erroneous teachings in the church world today. That is why it is so important for us to know the Bible for ourselves and to have a personal relationship with God. Then when someone teaches us something that is not in the Book, we will know! Paul had lots of troubles that God did not spare him from.. that's just one counter example!

Actually, that is right. That is God's promise that if Jesus' blood is over our family God will protect them but that does not mean our family will not go into trials and testings. It simply means God will be there for us even if we go through life's fiery trials.
