Hi fglswh. I would suggest you do the following:
1. Determine the location of the power terminal of your electronic board.
2. Connect in series a digital or analog tester. Connect the common probe of the tester to the positive terminal of the power supply port of your board. The positive probe of the tester will serve as the positive supply line.
3. Set the tester to Ammeter setting with the highest current range setting.
4. Double check the described connection to make sure nothing is shorted and everything is connected properly.
5. Apply power.
6. Obtain the current reading from the meter. If cannot get a stable reading from the meter, try setting the meter range to lower value until you obtain a stable reading.
Hope this helps.

hi there, in measuring the current of your electronic board. you can use many different way, 1) is by solving it through owh's law, kirchoff's current law. 2) is to measure it directly using multi tester., and lastly is by using the software MULTISIM, of you heard that before, you can easily measure the current and other unit you want to measure, for example the voltage across on a component, you can also measure the resistance, capacitance, inductance and etc. this software is easy to use even though your a first time user.
Multisim is a freeware i think so.. hehehe you can find some links where you can download it for free.
i hope i did help you on your problem.
