I started reading V.C. Andrews in the early 90's. My sister bought Flowers In The Attic and read it and raved about it. I borrowed her copy and read it and I became hooked. I've read almost all of the V.C. Andrews books. Even when the ghostwriter took over after her death and the quality of the novels seemed to decline over the years, I'm still hooked on them. I read them for pure enjoyment. They're the eqalivent to Soap Operas on tv: romance, secrets, drama, suspense. So much fun!

Yes! I have read some of VC Andrews books and I am a fan...my sister has a ton of them because she likes them too. But I have so many books I have to read, I haven't read any of hers in a while. Maybe after I finish some more of my books I'll ask my sister to borrow some more. I can't remember the names of all the one's I've read...but if I'm remembering right I've read the Dawn family books... I remember reading one where the girl is a music student, and I remember reading one where the girl and I think her little brother went to their old run down family estate...I remember reading one where the mom pretends she is pregnant when it's her daughter who is... Any of those one's Dawn? lol Do you happen to know the other ones I'm talking about?

Hi, LilyoftheThorns! I believe the one about the music student was Dawn or The Cutler Series. In it Dawn was a singer and in the second book of the series, "Secrets Of The Morning" she went off to a music school in NYC. I'm not quite sure about the other two books. I seem to recall the mother hiding her daughter's pregnancy in the book "Celeste"and pretending she was pregnant, but I'm not 100% certain about that.I'm drawing a total blank over The one about the girl and her younger brother visiting the run down estate, although I know I must have read it. I'm going to do a little research and if and when I come up with the answer to that one, I'll definitely post it here.

Yeah! Music school :) Okay that was Dawn, at least we got one down! lol Celeste...that name does sound familar, so it's very possible that is the one I read with the fake/real pregnancy situation!

Another aspect of the VC Andrews novels I really like is the cover/stepback art on the books themselves, where they show a drawing of the characters (most of the time its of the family the book is focused on). As far as I know, VC Andrews books are one of the only, if only books to do this. http://madteaparty.dreamhosters.com/vca/ has an up to date cover gallery of all of the books Lisa Falkernstern is the artist of the stepback art of the books. Her website is http://www.lisafalkensternart.com/

I was a fan as a young girl (probably WAY too young for these books) until I noticed a tend in each series I read there was a reaccuring theme of incest between brother and sister were at first they did not know they where related and they fall in love, sleep together then find out that they are brother and sister then they decide its OK because they are in love. Every time it was the same with the Dawn series and the Flowers in the Attic and the Ruby Series after it became too predictable so I started to read Anne Rice instead

Hi, slaveofsensation! You're right in the fact that the majority of the VC Andrew's books followed pretty much the same pattern. I in no way conone incest in real life so I always kept in mind that these books were purley fiction. And even though they became pretty predictable, I still enjoy reading them. I haven't read any Anne Rice books, although several of my friends have and they rave about her. I should give her a try sometime. :-)

Hi slaveofsensation! I agree with you in the fact that over time VC Andrews' books became pretty predictable. The storyline was basically the same, however I still enjoy reading them. Call it a guilty pleasure, if you will. :-) And I in no way condone incest in real life so I keep reminding myself this is all fiction when I'm reading the books. I haven't read any Anne Rice books, although a few of my friends have and they raved about them. I should give her a try.
