Why do you chose the laptop or desktop? I wouldn't have a desktop after having a laptop. The laptop is so convenient. Can travel with it, take it out relatively anywhere. The only problem i have is that it heats up on me. What are you thoughts?

But isn't there only certain things you can do with the Netbooks?

We have both. We used to have an older model laptop but it broke, so we had to wait - and this my fiance's father found a laptop so we bought it... now there's two computers in the house. For me, it doesn't matter. I try not to use the computer that much but I'm starting to get addicted to a greenspot app on myspace, and of course mylot is a constant addiction.
The only qualm I have with the laptop is until we can get a wireless router, we have to be near the dsl box!

Hello celticeagle.Well i got both i got a old desktop as well as i have a laptop but most of my time i use my desktop when i get online because i cannot use my laptop as its keys are a bit delicate and i cannot use it harshly for my work, when i need to type a lot.I did use my laptop before because it was comfortable but then i had to shift my internet to desktop due to same problem.I use my laptop for my college purpose.

I have a desktop computer at home and a laptop once but I decided to sell the later to have money to pay my payables. But to me, I prefer to have a laptop because I am basically a mobile person - often moving from one place to another on a job or on an recreation purpose. A loptop I can bring with me whenever I go and so I can use it anytime I need and want to. A desktop is good as it is more upgradable but one has to come home to use it. Besides I have a college student daughter who is always on the desktop computer leaving me almost no time to use it.

i have an old laptop now...but i am not so aginst the desktop as well!!in man cass i depends from what kind of usage you will normally have as regards your computer!!Desktop are powerful and comfortable and surely they are ok if you will use it in a fixed place as office or home as well!laptop is for the mobility so you will need your pc even if you are around so lapop is better...but i think deskop technology is still ok..especially for durabiliy and trustful pc as well!!

Well, my laptop is old now! And it is powerful. I use it for hours before it gets too warm. I agree on the durability. This is my second laptop and not near as good as the first one was. Grrrr!

Hey celtic! I have a desktop and most of the time I really
don't mind having one! I have a great computer desk and have
it all set up so that I can do all my necessary work like
paying bills and whatever else I need to do! I have it in
the corner of my kitchen which is the perfect place for it!
So I can cook and work on the compter at the same time and
I am not in my boyfriends way usually and he isn't in mine!
And in the winter I am right next to the oven, which I know
I have mentioned since my apartment is always freezing and
since I don't pay for gas I can turn it on a be nice and cozy!

Well, it sounds like you have a nice situation set up there. And winter won't be a problem either. My laptop is nice cause I can cozy up in my blanky and go for it!

Both, actually and I'm not sure if I could live with just one type.
While I have to admit that laptops are incredibly convenient, I mean, they're easy to transport around and you can probably still connect to the Internet in many places, plus allow you a easy way to work with some simpler tools in just about anywhere, it's typically not the most powerful of machines.
I mean, sure, you can invest big time in a super powerful laptop, but, these are frail machines that you don't really want to break in a moment of distraction, or have it robbed or something and meaning that you lost a huge amount of money.
So, I like laptops, as long as they are usable but as long as they aren't too expensive.
The desktops though, they can be far more powerful machines at a far lesser cost. These days you can make pretty power efficient desktops which don't really suck out much power (thus don't give you such a huge power bill) and still have a very effective machine when it comes to processing larger amounts of data in N tasks.
Granted, it's not a machine you can carry easily, but it's locked up in a place that's theoretically safer than out on the street, you are sitting comfortably in a chair (although you can sit comfortably in BED with a laptop) without having to worry with low batteries or a crappy internet access or anything of the sort.

I think my laptop is the greatest. I also use a thumb doowhicky that comes in very handy when i am away from the laptop and on a desktop. I rarely use the laptop off the battery. But it is available and always charged if I need it.

For me laptop is more convenient to use than a desktop. I could take it with me anywhere I go and it is more handy. We do have the same problem though, it heats up and I need charge it every 4 hours. But aside from that everything about it is good. :)

I perfer a laptop over a desk top. I'm always on the move so a laptop is perfect for me. Though when I do decide to settle down I think I'm going to get a desktop.

I have both my lap top over heats and then turns itself off and it do not help when you are half way through a discussion as you then have to start all over again.I like to use the desk top as i can sit at the computer without the worry of it turning itself off when i am half way through doing something.

I have both. I love my laptop and I carry it all the way to my business trip. It also helps me to keep in touch with my friends and relatives. I love its features too. I can also call my family thru yahoo messengers and skype

I use to have a desktop and a laptop computer. I sold my desktop and now only use my laptop. I LOVE using my laptop! I enjoy sitting in front of the tv while also checking email, playing games, and whatever I choose to do on the computer. I can also take my laptop on vacation. You can't do that with a desktop. I feel as if it is more convenient with a laptop.
