when checking out models and calling programs? What about batteries? What things should a person think about and look at when getting their first cell phone?

I think the first thing you should think about is on what your cell phone's main purpose would be. If your going to use it for texting and calls alone, you might as get a sturdy camera that is fit for that purpose. However, if your going to use it for web- based applications as well, you might want to get the smart phones. They may be a little costly but they would fit your purpose perfectly. I got myself an iPhone and it works perfectly for me because I use it for applications such as YM, iBlogger, Twitter, etc. when I'm out of the house. :) I hope this helps

I am not co-ordinated and might drop it. Have to be sure it is strong. Depends on the deal I can get on the pictures, texting and browser. Will have to see.

Mostly what ya want it to do with the price it has. those little ones can really cost you! I just like the one that I talk on and take pics when I want. and really only use it with family member that dont cost exta or Min. I like VErizons for al my family has it and dont cost us extra to talk to each other anytime! adn all of the programs ya can call anyone that doesnt have that plan till 9 pm not to cost you extra!

I have heard that Verizon is very good for those reasons and it seems to have the best coverage as well.

Hello celticeagle. When i go to buy i cellphone for me or any of my relative, what i look for in it first is whethear it is strong or no, like i can use it roughly.Secondly wheather its buttons will long last or no because many good phones too go fail due to their buttons and keypad. Then i look for its battery capacit as well as other features come behind them.

I think it reawlly all depends on what you need the cell phone for. If it for texting, then you probably wouldn't need a very extravagant phone, as a simple one would do. Now, if you intend to do more than that with it, then you would want mor features. My phone has a touch screen n the outside, and qwerty keyboard on the inside. I use the qwerty keyboard for texting my daughter. I also have the internet, a 3.2mp camera with video capabilities. It also has youtube, myspace, facebook, photobucket, twitter, and other reatures. Some I may not use, but they are there in case I ever want to use them. I like a phone with lots of features. It is the only phone I hae, so I need it to do different things, and it doe do that. Take care, and happy mylotting.

My phone is an LG enVTouch, with a touch screen, and a qwerty keyboard. It is the first LG phone I have ever had. I haven't had it long enough to really say a whole lot about it, but since I have had it almost 2 months now, it has done its job, and it has all the features on it I could want or need. I access the internet as well, and that is one of the bigeest reaasons I got it was for that alone, as when I am not by my computer, I can access mylot if I am not home. The battery seems to be a pretty good battery too, as I don't have to charge it up everyday, unless my daughter, and I text a lot. That does seem to take the battery down a lot, so we have slowed down texing to much, just a little everyday, as we both have other things to do as we well. Happy mylotting.

it is a fact that i am more attracted to the outside feature of the phone upon viewing it. if it looks nice and beautiful, i would then be interested and take a second look. i try to get reviews from friends and the internet before i go to the mall and check the unit personally. while there, i try to ask as many questions as possible from the salesclerk. a lot of things are to be considered in getting a phone and it all depends on one's choice and needs, i guess.

personally I think they shold think about caust coverage and how many minutes they want to use a month. Do they want to replace there landline with it? do they want a phone witha lot of talk time bfore th battery runs out?

You need to see what features you want in your phone and the price you are willing to pay. Most companies have phones with a variety of features, right from the basic model to the most advanced. You can then check reviews from various users about a particular model. Battreries are an important factor for people on the move, who use their phone a lot. For others they can charge their phone at various places like work etc so its not a major issue. You need to apend some time reviewing before you can buy.

One of the last things someone that is buying a cell phone for the first time would have to be the plan that goes with it.. There are some crazy over usage fees that its crazy... Have heard first time buyers complaining about the first bill 4 or 5 hundred dollars.. A user must determine what exactly is the phone going to be use for and at what times of the day... Texting? Internet accesses? Transferring or downloading files; pictures, ring tones, and all of the other little things that can be added to the phone... not realizing that those simple little things cost an arm and a leg, if its not within your plan...
