Arent IT companies messing it up!!!!!!

Are'nt It companies are messing it up i mean they are trying their hands in every field and in end ending nowhere. Like 3 companies Microsoft, Apple and Google. MS is trying to make its share in gaming industry by XBOX 360, in music industry by Zune (doesnt even match upto iPod) and internet by Bing (junky stuff). Apple is doing the same while google is now to try its hands in OS market by Chrome OS. Why these companies dont do they are best in. Microsoft has been producing high-quality softwares since 1990's (VISTA IS AN EXCEPTION). So why doesnt it completely focus on its upcoming softwares like Windows 7 and Office 2010. Apple has always good in hardware and sftware native to its hardware. I love google's internet services i dont understand why its entering the OS market. What do u think?
