Is it okay to spit in public?

This is a personal pet peeve of mine as my ex-husband was always spitting in public. Big huge loogies. It was gross and embarrasing to be with him. In some places it's actually illegal, but not enforced. In the country on my own property I will spit if I'm outdoors and need to clear my throat, but not on public property or at other people's houses.

Spitting shows ill manner. It is very disgusting particularly when you are in public place.

Sometimes I spit just because there's something in my mouth. Or I get bored at work and just spit in the parking lot and see what kinda shapes it goes into. Besides that, and in public, no, it's rude.

I personally think spitting is disgusting and disrespectful. and just the noise that some people make when they are bringing it up about to spit oh it is soooo disgusting it makes me wanna be sick!

I think it's rude and disgusting. I'm not sure why most men find that it's acceptable but they do. I've always taught my son that it's disgusting, yet now that he is a teen he feels quite free. He does it in front of me and I tell him.. but I know he does it in public when I'm not around. It's just vulgar!

Spitting is nasty. That's why tissues and hankies were created...People need to use them...

no it is not ok. my next question is: what is in your mouth that you have to spit out? you should find a bathroom and get some tissue to spit in and then throw it away.

i find it very disgusting and rude. i guess they can understand other people's feelings if they do that, but if not, i think they really lack in good manners

No it is not okay to spit in public, its a very awful habit to get into. footballers do it on the football pitch and it doesn't set a good example for children as they look up ti these football people and like to copy what they do.

this is so disgusting to see and in our country you can be jailed if caught spitting in public places specially in the streets. its a good thing we have that here because it is not hygenically acceptable also.
