I believe that shopping is a hobby nowadays. How do you do your shopping? Do you pay with cash or credit card? and why? Is there a difference? I prefer to shop using cash in my wallet since I don't like to have a debt of any kind or anything and these debts if unpaid may rise interest which may increase the amount that you have to pay. I believe that credit card is not as complicated because if you are going to buy something with a very large amount of money you don't have to bring the amount which can put you to risk for a stick up or hold up commonly known as being rob. Happy mylotting. Have a nice day.

I prefer cash to credit cards. Cash is so much less of a hassle. Credit cards are just keeping the cash in your pocket a little while longer.

I agree. Sooner or later you have to use the cash so why not just use it now and not worry about it later.

Well that is so true. If we are not going to spend our cash it will just be used to pay the credit card balance that was used when you have gone shopping. So why use credit card if you have cash. Happy mylotting. Thanks for your opinion. Have a nice day.

I am soooo used to credit cards ... and I am not fond of carrying lots of cash around... i find it very convenient... Once a week though, I pay everything online to make sure when my bill arrives it is zero... I love to see my frequent user points go up.... maybe one day I could exchange them for a plasma Tv... (in 50 years lolz!)

That's very responsible of you to pay your credits before the bill comes. I guess that you will soon get that plasma tv when you reach that certain point of your credit card. Good luck. I hope and pray that you can get that Television. Don't be in a rush to get that plasma because gadgets nowadays will easily lose its style and another style will arise. So don't be in a rush. You will get it soon enough. Happy mylotting. Have a nice day.

hi merctiu, Well with the economic development people have started to have more money in their pocket and when there is a girl with money, shpping is but natural. I do have 4 credit cards with me but i never shop with them as it is too much trouble going to bank and then pay them or deposit a check on the ATM of the bank soi prefer cash. Shopkeeper is much happier if you pay cash , so he doesnt have to pay commisiion to banks and i also have a check on how much i have spent and when u pay cash you always ask is it too costly or do i really need it?

i pay goods in cash to spare me from worries later on. i don't want to worry about whether i have money to pay when the bills come. if paying cash, some of the small stores allow discounts rather than if u use credit cards.

That's a nice thought. I guess that trouble always arises when ever you have this debt. I guess that you family relation would be ruin if this get worst. Cash is more preferable if you don't want to end up a broken family in the future. Have a nice day. Happy mylotting.

Hello Marctiu, For me, I used to pay cash whenever I go shopping. But now I have a credit card and debit card. I normally will pay using my credit card or debit card. It is more convenience to pay using cards than cash as I don't need to carry too much cash to go out.

That's great. Cash just adds up to the burden. Well, as long as you pay the credits before it is due and you prioritize your needs. Well, it is alright to use credit card. Happy mylotting. Have a nice day.

That's great. I think that you have overcome your addiction to shopping. I never tried paying something through gcash, but I have heard that you still have to pay some amount to receive the money or something. I am not that interesed to gcash though. I would rather use my cash than any other way of paying. Thanks for your opinion. Have a nice day. Happy mylotting.

I pay in cash most of the time. I have no credit cards, just an ATM card where I can get cash. For bigger purchases, my husband has to buy them because he has the credit cards, and as you pointed out, it is not wise to bring large amounts of cash with you.

That is right. I have read as one of the member responded that it is an eye catcher for the thieves and I believe that this is so true since nowadays. You can't live without money and thieves will do anything to rob you just to get the money. Have a nice day. Stay safe. Happy mylotting.

I prepare to shop and buy groceries with my credit card. For me its more convinient. You will not end up in debt if you know your limitations. I always check the total amount of my groceries before I decided to buy them all. I illiminate those that are not necessary if I know I exceeded to my budget. Credit card is not complicated at all and you will enjoy as well the rewards and promos they have. They also have tie up with different stores so if you need to purchase a big amount, ask for 0% interest installment plan.

I totally agree. It is alright to use credit card as long as you keep in touch with the receipts and you should know the limit of the credit that you are able to pay within a month to avoid interest. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice day. Happy mylotting.

I totally agree with you marctiu, I also don't like to have debts with people. Therefore, I also prefer to use cash to spend on things I want to buy. In the oldies, chinese people always say ' By having a debt, you will not be rich' Therefore I don't and will not have a debt in my place. What ever I do, if I do not have the cash, I will not buy that thing until I have it in my hand.

You are totally right. Having debt will get you no where. You will only get nothing out of it in the long run. I believe that this is very true because you can never be called rich if you have many debt. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

we use cash. i have to agree with you that shopping is a hobby and credit is far too easy to get. why do you think so many people are drowning debt? its more of a 'i want it NOW' world than any time in the history of man.

Well, I can say that it is very true that people are indeed drowning with their own debts and these debts just keep on increasing. So why not use cash instead of credit. Right? But if you are responsible enough to use a credit card and pay any bill before the due date then you can still use your credit card. The only thing that matters here, I think, is on how we face responsibilities. Happy mylotting. Have a nice day.

Shopping has never been one of my hobbies. Don't get me wrong--I do like to buy things on occasion, but I'd much rather stay at home and curl up with a book I got from the library than go out and buy things I don't need because it's 'fun.' It's a much cheaper hobby than shopping! That aside, I do shop frequently for things I need, and I always make it a point to use my debit card when I pay. I'm enrolled in a program that gives me quadruple points for every dollar I spend. All I have to do is choose 'credit' when I swipe my card and sign for it instead of using my PIN. I use that card for just about everything I do--buying groceries, paying bills online, paying for my prenatal doctor visits--so the points add up really quickly. I just redeemed my points for a $40 cash credit to my bank account, so even though I pay a $25 annual fee for being enrolled in that program, it's earning me money.

Till date, i dont have a credit card since I feel that Credit cards always lead to debts since my friends who hold credit cards are finding it increasingly difficult to pay their bills. I generally have the feeling that if we spend using cash, we may feel the actual spendings we do and can spend according to that. For purchasing Costly items, I used Debit cards. I never want my Month's salary to be eaten up by Credit cards before it arrives in my account. Hence I prefer using Cash instead of Credit cards. Thanks for starting this discussion and have a great day. Happy Mylotting. Cheers:-)

You're welcome. Well, what you have stated is true that credit card can increase the debts of one person because the sense of control in purchasing items will be lost if you have this credit card, and you can feel the spending if you use actual cash in buying your things. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

Credit cards - Different credit cards
If you are smart, then always a credit card will be better for you. The advantages are more than disadvantages if you know how to use a credit card. You can save atleast 10% on your monthly expenditure & that means on an average you can save $3000 a year! But if you don't know the complete techniques of using a CC & if you fail to make payments on time, then you had it, instead of savings, you can find a huge loss because of CC. I use a CC for all my shopping & for almost all the expenditures & there was a time period of 9 months where I didn't pay the bill & that too without any Interest! because I completely understood the concept of Balance transfer & I kept rotating the money from on card to another so that I didn't had to pay any interest Before using a CC, learn all the techniques & then use it wisely. Remember not to overspend because you have the balance & be in your limits so that you can make huge savings & benefits of CC. Happy Lotting

Well, I don't think that credit card can make a difference. But I see your point, that would be really great to use credit card and build up points. But I guess the issue here is on the responsibilities on paying the bill on time. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

Hi Marctiu,If I am doing a big shopping,I prefer to use credit card for payment, I can get the points for my credit card and I no need to fork up cash at that point of time. It means I can dragged for another few weeks for the payment, wait til I received the credit card bill, only then I need to make the payment for my purchases. If I am shopping for small items with cost less than RM50, I prefer to pay by cash. I prefer not to carry so much cash when I am out for shopping. Credit card has made out life simple, just a small card and we can make any puchases as we like.

I guess that you have a point there in carrying a lot of money. It is really a burden. I have tried carrying a large amount of money and I really am very conscious because we may never know that it is going to be rob or anything like that. Happy mylotting. Thanks for your opinion. Have a nice day.

I use a debit card. I'm not fond of using credit cards because it's a liability and I don't carry cash because it's an eye catcher for thieves. Debit cards are more useful because I get to use my own money without carrying cash and it doesn't increase one's liability.

That is very true that thieves have an eye for money and if they want it so badly they'll do anything to get that money away from you. Dabit card is much safer because it is like bringing cash in a card. Thanks for your opinion. Have a nice day and happy mylotting.
