Do You Pay Attention to TV Ads?

I do pay attention to them eventually after either hearing or seeing them. Sometimes I won't be in the same room as the t.v., most likely I'm on mylot! lol. Some if not most of them are really just silly so that's one reason why unless there played constantly, or are of some interest to me I don't worry about them. A lot of them have jingles, so those can be catchy and hard to get out of one's head! lol!

I mostly hear commercials in the background while I'm doing other things. So I can usually hum a jingle without even knowing what the product is. There is this one stupid jingle, Do do, do do a dollop...It's a commercial for Daisy sour cream. That jingle has gotten into my head so many times. I seem to notice it a lot on HGTV (I guess their target demographic are people who watch HGTV).

I am always well prepared like the proverbial boy scout for whenever the commercials come on I am armed with a Suduko book to work away on, I listen to the commercials but I don't look at them, unless I hear something interesting, but with commercials that's probably 1-5% of the time LOL! I like commercials for the simple reason that it gives you time to make a cuppa or skip to the loo without missing any crucial part! Or if I am upstairs I will lay on the bed watching television as soon as the commercials come on I walk over to my desk and see if I have any interesting emails to look at! So they do serve their purpose, albeit most of them are boring!

It all depends on the advert. I do the same as you. During the adverts, I get up to finish some chores. That way, I'm not behind with my housework, nor I'm behind what I'm watching on TV.

no, i don't pay alot of attention to them because i think most of them are extremely silly. I like the ones w/kids but haven't seen too many of those lately. I'm like u i get up to do whatever i need to do when the commercials are on. Have a great Monday.

I don't most of the time but there are some of them that catch my attention. I like the ones from Sonic. They usually get my attention because they are funny.

Before I got my computer,I watched alot more television. And when the commercials would come on that is when I would take the time to do a little cleaning while they were on then sit back down to watch my show till the next commercial. It always worked out well unless it was one of those commercial free shows. And my house probably stayed cleaner then it does know..although I will do a little on my computer and then do 5 minutes cleaning..takes me longer to clean since sometimes I forget and get carried about mylotting or something else.

I usually don't pay attention to the commercials unless it's during the superbowl (and I only watch that if the Steelers are in it!) Otherwise I am just listening to the TV while doing something else. If I'm watching something I get up during commercials and do something around the house.

Yes, I can watch them while working and not see or understand what i am seeing. There are a few cute ones. Not many. I usually have the buds in my ears and am just watching it from time to time. The ole company ya know.

Hello patofgold! I am able to watch TV at night also. Because I am out of the house the whole day. It's my usual time to relax. Sometimes, I am in front of the PC while watching TV, so when it is commercial time, my focus would be on the computer. But when I am just sitting, and just watching the TV I am able to watch the adverts. And yes, sometimes I enjoy watching it and memorize some of it especially if my son likes the commercial. happy mylotting!

Hi lady gold, I also spend little time on TV. I like three TV serials. Those I usually watch. Some TV adverts attract me.Those are really funny.

no i do not...it is boring and they repeat agian and again... they are sometimes corny too.

i dont really watch tv anymore, but when i do and the add kick in, it's the best time for me to check what's on other channels:)

well it depends, if it seems to be catchy or my kids ask me to watch it (they are older so its not because they want me to buy something) i will watch it, but generally i read (really!) or get up and walk around (not necessarily to the kitchen for a snack either!)

No, I do not, but if you pay attention to them, you'll realize how many of them you have memorized just by hearing them. Commercials are designed to stick with your brain so that when you go shopping you'll have them in your mind. Usually the songs are really catchy or they are showing you an amazing "DEAL" or something. I hate commercials, they are really annoying. I memorize things really easily and when I'm watching TV with my brother or something a commercial might come on and I'll start singing the words of the song. My brother always tells me I watch too much TV because I know some of the songs....I thought about it though and that's not true, I actually barely watch TV. At the most like an hour and a half to two hours a day because I'm usually pretty busy.

Most of the time I don't.....I watch very little TV...but there is one on right now that I stop and watch.....it's a bulldog that is skateboarding through the living room.....first his owner says take it outside buddy then you see the dog riding the skateboard.....I think its awesome!

Ironic that you brought this up. I pay so little attention to the tv. My daughter had it on tonite and I was on the computer. My daughter is 15. For whatever reason I glanced up and saw a Toy Story Character. I jokingly commented..."so you are still into toy story?" She responded with....Mom...have you been drinking? I was insulted and she could not understand why. The tv is background noise for me.

When the commercial is on I usually change the channel and look for something interesting to watch. But if the commercial is new I watched it. Sometimes its so irritating because the commercial is longer that what I'm watching. I often forgot that I'm watching something at all.

I don't watch commercials. I have to have cable tv or I would get no reception even with a converter box. The upside to this is that I have TiVO and I record everything I watch. Then I just skip the commercials. I refuse to be force-fed the message of consumerism!
