"Don't Live Your Life Trying To Please People"

I hear this almost everyday. Sometimes I even find myself saying it. But somehow or the other I find myself feeling hurt and wanting to change the tings I do to please persons.
Saying that I will live my life and just dont care about what people think is one thing, actually doing it is another.
Please tell me how do you live your life the way you want to live it and not to try to please persons.

I dont please anyone also, i live my life with contentment,being thankfull to all that i have and saying that im contented with my life doesnt mean that i dont want to improve my self as a peson. I like making friends but not good at it.

I wish I could have said that about myself in that I dont try to please persons. The problem for me is stopping. Like for example after it happens then I realise that I have failed.

it is easier said than done. i have always been in that situation that u sacrifice urself just to please ur friends and children. maybe we do this to maintain the friendship and to always come out the good person in their eyes. then later, i regret having allowed it. i am now trying to weigh things and give myself self-satisfaction from being able to please myself rather than others, depending on the situation.
it is different with the case of our children. always, parents sacrifice something for themselves and give it to their children. parents always want the best for them to the extent of sacrificing themselves.
