Do you clip your dog's nails yourself?

Do you clip your dog's nails yourself or do you take your dog somewhere to have someone else do it? I usually take my dog to the vet's office to have her nails clipped. I pay $8 each time we go. Today I purchased a pair of nail clippers to try it myself. I've never done it before because I've been scared that I will clip her nails too short or hurt her. How about you, what do you do?

I use a dremal tool with a sanding wheel. It's almost the same thing as the pedipaws or what ever they call it but cheaper. I sand a little off every day or every other day and it keeps them short. don't have to worry about hurting the dog. I also give him a treat after and he is getting use to it.

I have four cats and four dogs, and I clip all of their nails. Three of the dogs are good about getting their nails clipped, the fourth one is a real pain! I am going to have to get a muzzle for her so I can clip her nails. Of course she is 75 pounds and that's a lot to struggle with. The other three are mini Dachshunds so it's a piece of cake to clip their nails! I have to clip them myself as the cost of the vet doing it would be the cost of an office visit ($40) times four! The cats are really good about getting their claws clipped too. They vocalize a lot, but they sit still on my lap for the claw clipping.

I clip my dogs nails myself. If you do these just be careful not to cut too much because if you do your dog won't let you cut her nails anymore. Have a nice day!:)
