Do you prefer buying books or borrowing books from the library?

I'm sure many of you live close to a library, because it seems to be everywhere. But do you still prefer to buy books? Or do you borrow books from the library? I like to collect books that I really really like, such as the Harry Potter series (I'm a great fan!). But other than that, I usually just go to the library. I can spend a long time there just trying to choose which book I want to take out, because there are so many good books to choose from!:D

yeah, that's one of my reasons for going to the library as well! Books are pretty expensive, especially for some like me who doesn't get a lot of allowances from my parents...

I go to the library, but mine doesn't have a very good selection, so I buy a lot of used books.

I use the library a lot. I have two different library cards. There is a library close to my home, and I sometimes go there because it is easy and convenient, but the library is quite small and there are few books. The library in the big town is much better and there are so many interesting books there. I can spend a lot of time there, and it is usually hard for me to decide which books to borrow, because there are so many different ones to choose between Sometimes I buy books instead of borrowing them, but I can't afford to buy all the books that I want to read.

I don't really read books but I sometimes get in the mood when I get to flip a few pages and find anything interesting. I'm not a book worm so I don't go buying books either for collection or just for reading. I just don't read a book all over again after reading it once so it would be a definite waste to spend money on it and either box it or sell it for a cheaper price. I'd rather go to the library and look for a book and rent it out for free. Besides, I could always come back and rent it again if ever I would want to read a book all over.

I prefer borrowing books. I don't know if you got this experience, sometime you buy a new book and you think that you can read it in anytime you want, so at last it costs you a long time to finish it. But the books borrowed from library has the deadline, it remind you finish it asap.

I pretty much do both. I love to read and sometimes I get bored with an author OR I end up reading all the books they have out, so I will go to the library and borrow a book from a different author to see if I like them. If I don't then I didn't spend money on a book I wouldn't read again.

I love to buy books but sometimes if I am trying a different author I will borrow a book from the library to see if I will like the author.

I like to own my favorite books so I have bought books mostly. But now with the lack of money, I have thought about going to the library. In fact, I am going to have to go to the library since I really can't buy any books. I think it will be fun and if I read a book that I really really like, I will try to find a nice used copy online. Sometimes you can get them super cheap online.

I don't usually go to a library to borrow some books... Instead I go straight to a bookstore and often spend more than an hour by searching for a good read.

Hi, AmuletGirl! I love reading books especially fictions, and I love Harry Potter as well, but I have not yet got the books. When I was younger, I used to go to the library to borrow some books. I have not been to the library for a few years now because I often purchase books from the book store and normally, I would only buy one or two books per month. So, I could spend hours reading and looking for the best sellers books to add them in my collections. I am always thinking of going to the library because I do not have to spend so much money on books and I really need to renew my library card.

I love going to the library. I get them there because its free and a great resource. We can check out anything we could think of. I could spend all sorts of time in there. My schools library has these great little rooms up stairs that I love to go and just veg out and study in when I'm exaughted. Plus I don't like to buy books that I typically know I wont want to read again. It's kind of pack ratish of me. I use to keep them all.

Well i am not really that much of a book reader but when I do read an interesting story i preffer to own my books rather than rent them because I can read at my own pace and i can read them anytime i want

for me, i prefer to borrow books from either the library or my friends because im a type of person that will just read a book once because if i have read it already i don't get excited anymore in my second reading. but for books like my nursing books i buy for future purposes.

I definitely prefer to buy them. And this is because I tend to read good books over and over again, I just love it. So I like to have them handy, should I decide to read a Stephen King novel again (and again), or immerse myself once more in a story by John Irving. Having to do this browsing in a library I would find very cumbersome.

I prefer to buy my books. I get a lot of amazon gift cards from a site I belong to online so I don't really even have to pay for them. I hate the waiting lists for the new and popular books at the library. I don't want to have to wait months to read something that just came out. I do use the library if its an older book that I don't have to wait for though.

depends on what i need..i am a teacher and sometimes it`s difficult to buy specific books for games, activities as those kinds of stuff are onyl available in certain stores, so for this purposes,i prefe borrowing from the library. The libary used to be British Council property before the ministry of education took over it..there are many good books in english

I prefer to borrow books from the library because you only need is a library card. It is also convenient than buying a book because you will not spend money. But, it depends if you really need that book that is the time you must buy it. If you borrow make sure you take it back on time to avoid paying for the deductions of time frame on borrowing it. Library is design to borrow books that you need information or knowledge for short period of time when doing something like homework. Hope this response help you.

Good books are really worth the money. I collect books, but most of it are gifts from friends and aunts. I prefer to borrow books from friends but if I really like a book, I would really buy one.
