I read Paul Levinson's detective story, The Consciousness Plague, a couple of days ago. It was sitting in the sci-fi section of the library, which was a bit odd, since it couldn't really be classed as sci-fi, even in a loose sense.
It concerns two things: a serial killer and a flu bug. People who take a certain drug for the flu bug start having memory loss - not permanent, but enough to cause havoc with their jobs and with relationships. This side of the story is probably the more interesting; the serial killer stuff got a bit too clever and complex, and at the end I wasn't sure who'd killed who.
But a good read overall.
