Blackadder

Rowan Atkinson is fantastic as Mr. Bean. That's probably the role he's most noted for here in the USA. However, I've recently discovered a fantastic show from the 1980's called Blackadder, also starring Atkinson. He plays the title role; a character who is always linked to high society in Britain, but never quite becoming rich or famous. In one season, he plays a Lord in Queen Elizabeth's court, and in another season he plays a captain in the English army during World War I. The show has many of the funniest scenes in television that I can recall. The episode that I enjoyed the most was when Blackadder is assigned to the role of Executioner, and is responsible for killing those guilty of treason. It sounds morbid, but it really is quite funny. Needless to say, the wrong people get the axe, and Blackadder has to try to fool everyone that these people are still alive and well!
Has anyone else seen this show? What do you enjoy about it?

yeah man i have seen all the blackadder seasons
the world war one and the one in which he is a lord in the court are my fav
the character is very sarcastic in the 2nd,3rd n 4th seasons
also other characters of Percy,Baldrick,Melchet and Hugh Laurie's character are very hilarious
check out another show called father ted
it doesnt have rowan atkinson but the shows hilarious nontheless

Well Rowan Atkinson's character as Mr. Bean has and will always be the most popular one here in our character. I and my colleagues would talk and continuously laugh about it every time we share this Mr. Bean character 
!His every performances has been so notably funny and so good for the heart. I hope I could have chance to also watch Blackadder. By the way you described it, I think the show is hilarious and worth seeing! Thanks for sharing and surely I would take time to see that show too

Blackadder is awesome. I find that he suits that role better then Mr Bean. Seen of 4 series all very good , especially the role of Hugh Laurie as dim witted fool and Baldrick who always has a *cunning plan*, that always goes wrong. Great series to watch
