New Record?

United States

I think I might have the new myLot record, but I haven't been around here long enough to know for sure. Has anyone else ever lost 13 points from there rating in one day? I did from yesterday to today. I was 94/100 yesterday with a red star. I logged on this morning and noticed a yellow star. When I checked it, I'm now rated 81/100. Since I don't usually respond to controversial topics like politics and religion, I'm not really sure what I said to piss people off enough to give me so many negative ratings. Oh well, I guess it's a good thing that pay doesn't depend on ratings. It doesn't, right?

I have no idea why you would drop so much! I have never seen you say not one ill word towards anyone. I am pretty sure they don't pay based on that, but I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time. Big hugs hun and take it in stride. Let the haters keep on hating while you have fun.

Thank you so much, Babyangie! I never really paid much attention to the ratings and rankings. I noticed yesterday that I was getting close to the 95 that can earn you a blue star, and I mentioned that to Mike in a discussion, since he was right on the cusp for the blue star. Today, I noticed the yellow right away and saw that my rating had dropped to 81. I'm just on here trying to have fun. I have made some "racy" statements, but it has all been done in fun, and I try to only make them to people that I think won't be offended by them. Yesterday was actually a quiet day, and I only responded to a few discussions and thought that I was showing support. Maybe I was wrong.

Thanks. I think you rock, too! You might not want to tell any that you think I rock, though, or your ratings might plunge overnight, too.

I think that someone is probably just going around giving negative ratings. Those people are considered trolls on here. I don't pay much attention to my ratings and I just do the work on here that needs to be done.

But we can only rate each user 11 times in 24 hours so this drop is absurd!

Thanks Carol. That makes sense, except that I dropped 13 rating points in one day. That seems like quite a substantial drop to me! They must really have been focusing on me or the topics that I have responded to. I never really paid attention to ratings or rankings, either, until recently a member has been posting several discussions related to educating us on the ratings and ranking system. I used to think that educating yourself on different topics was a good thing, but now I think I would be happier not to know as much about it as I have learned recently. Have you ever had a troll? What did you do or did you just ignore it? I like your response that you just "do the work on here that needs to be done". That is a very good attitude.

MysD - so does that mean that it must have been quite a few people negatively rating me? It's bad enough that one person did it, but it's even worse if I made that many people upset, especially since I don't even know what I did that was so bad.

Sorry but it does! Have you been in the politics or religion areas before? If yes mabe you got someones dander up before! Some idiots here hold a grudge and may have been waiting to run across you again? There are trolls here who do things like this! These people are bad for Mylot and we usually weed them out but it takes time! they recently changed the rating system here to help soften the blows against this actions! Just keep your chin up and push on it will get back up soon! one good thing is you don't have that many posts yet so it won't take long! Be glad your not in the 4000 rangr it takes forever! tdemex

Thanks tdemex. I don't go into the politics or religion areas, because those topics are too controversial. If I did go there, it was completely by accident and I didn't realize. I'm pretty sure that I haven't ever responded to one, though. If they changed the ratings recently to "soften the blow", then I must have made quite a few people angry. The worst thing about it is that I don't know what I could have possibly said to deserve such a harsh drop. If I knew, then I wouldn't feel so bad about it, but I don't think that I have ever said anything bad on here.

The most worrying is that when a user is inactive for a few days and saw the points down 40, just as happen to me several months ago. I always give positive value to others, and do the best for all. I hope everything can be improved.

I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. It must have been a shock to log-in after being gone a few days and see such a drastic drop in your rating! I have never rated anyone negatively, although there have been one or two that I thought deserved it. Instead, I just ignored them and focused on having fun with my friends. I hope that things get better, too. Thanks for stopping by and letting me know that I'm not alone in this.

Yeah, that is a pretty big drop, but it was only nine points and you spread it out over three days. Mine was a thirteen point drop literally overnight. Unfortunately, I think I have you beat on this one, my friend. Trust me, though, I wouldn't mind if you had the record on this one.

Dbu, I hope you didn't misunderstand me. I'm not wishing for your rating to drop! On the contrary, I hope that your rating goes up. Trust me, I really don't want to compete to see who can get a lower rating faster. I would like for both of our ratings to go back up, my friend.

This is the second time this week that I've read someone had dramatically dropped in their rankings. I think someone very bitter is doing this things. Oh please stop that crab mentality thing be mature people. I just got my star the other day and I was pretty impressed how fast did it change from yellow to red but if there someone out there mylotting just to give negative ratings everyone could be a victim. I suggest that the mods should do something about this. I think at least they should monitor how mylotters give their ratings [O_O]

I haven't been here very long either. When I got my star, it was yellow, but it went to red pretty quickly. It is a nice feeling when that happens, isn't it? I didn't realize that this was such a widespread problem, but I have heard from several people that theirs have dropped recently, too. They didn't have as dramatic a drop as mine, but they still dropped several points. It seems like it might be a small group of people doing this, but that is just a theory. You are right, though, that it can happen to anybody and for apparently no reason. I hope that you are not a victim of this attack.

purplealabaster the trolls were at you, oh my,yes I had worse than that a year back, overnight two trolls negated me all night so the'next morning my blue ten was down to a five whatever color that is now, and i reported this to mylot.they did check and caught two mylotters who deliberately spent all night hitting minus buttons on all my thingslthese two were kicked out and barred from mylot. I got back now as far as an eight. with 81 points, I have had two added since I came back so may finallyget back at least to a red with enought plus ratings. I would complain about this as it was done deliberately to you by a bad mylotter, a troll who dislikes people with tens. they need to catch this person and kick him out. report this to mylot please. oh your pay does not depend on your rating at all. so keep mylotting and smile, and report this incident at once to mylot admins. press contact at the bottom of this page and report the drop of 13 points in one night.,

Hatley it definately does afect earnings. When it drops, as Lamb and I can confirm, then your earnings drop too. Today I see our efforts have had an upping effect so let's just continue and try and get things back to where they were!

That is awful, Hatley! I'm glad that they caught the two people that were sabotaging you and kicked them off myLot. I think they have revised the rules to keep this from happening now. From what I understand, currently you can only rate a person 11 per day, which limits the impact that any one person can have on your rating. That seems like a good thing for the most part. On the other hand, it means that more than one person probably negatively rated me. Also, Lamb and MysD said that your rating does affect how much you can earn on here. That may have changed from when you were on before. It also means that the trolls win at least a small victory if they can knock your rating down several points. If we keep helping each other, though, we can raise each others ratings back up to where they were. I hope that you make it back up to your former rating soon.

How is the rating affecting the earning? I have 9 stars when I can see the stars and now it is 10. What is the highest stars that we can reach?

Hi, So sorry to hear that...however, I believe you will be a blue star again! Lately it seems many myLotters got negative rating, some discussions about leaving, all sorts, what is happening here, I wonder? Anyway, I remembered reading on some topic discussion, quite a number of myLotters realised that the rating (star) do affect on the earnings. Example, if 30 responses at star rating 6 will earn differently from the same amount of post done by star rating 10.... I can't confirm, but may be it is true!

James, thanks for the vote of confidence. I am very happy to have my red star back. I just hope that I can keep it for a while. You are right that there have been quite a few people on here losing points and going down in ratings, but fortunately most of them are only a point or two - not enough to change their star. It is quite strange, and it seems to have happened in just the last couple of days. I have been told by several people that are very knowledgeable about myLot that your star rating does affect the amount that you earn, so you are correct on that point, too. I didn't realize that, but it makes it worse when somebody wants to mess with you. Hopefully, you stay under the radar and the "trolls" don't mess with your rating.

Wow that is something. You know sometimes the smallest things piss people off, even the most simplest, most innocent comment. Believe me it has happened to me before.

I'm sorry that has happened to you, too. As you can see, it seems to have happened to a lot of us, so I guess you are in good company. You are right. We don't always know how people will take things. A very simple and innocent comment might be misinterpreted by someone, and then they might take offense to it. Thank you for pointing this out, because maybe I said something innocently that someone took the wrong way.
