Do the American female drink wine a lot?

I often saw so many girls and women drink a lot,no matter what things,the happy,the sad,they will drink wine,and often drunk.I wonder it is true in reality life. In China,there are not so many women drink wine,women can,but usually not much,unless for some business. Is there many things if women or girls drunk? Recently I am watching American movies and TV series,there are so many wines.It confused me.Sometimes I drink,but won't drunk,and just beer.
