Hi myLotters, first I want to ask question, what's the name of your currency? I'm from Indonesia and my currency is rupiah. In every rupiah's mark, there always a national hero in front of the paper, and changed everytime the Central Bank issued a new image for the currency. I also find US dollar also the same, it's Lincoln right? (please correct me if I'm wrong!) Besides national hero, we usually have Indonesian culture that differentiate us from other country, such as our cultural dance, animal (I wonder why komodo haven't been displayed in our currency, only orangutan once), or historical buildings. So, what's displayed in your currency? Is it also national hero?

In the U.S we have Dollars of coures. the poraits are of some national heros or fomar presidents. most of the poritats are of presidents but a few are of other heros. the ten bill has Alexhander Hamition. not a preident but a national hero and first secitary of the tresery. while the 100 bill has Ben Franklin on it, he was a founding father and national hero as well. Lincolon was a president and is on the 5 bill while on the 1 bill is Washington, the frist president and national hero.

From what I undersand, the reason why there is a pryimidi on the back of the us dolar bill is that it has to do with Masonic inagery. the founding fathers of the u.s were free masons so some that infulce turns up in the nations symbols.

That would be cool! Yeah, I wish the government not putting all those images too seriously. Would it be fun to see Britney Spears smiles at us everytime we put out US dollars? LOL

I am from India and our currency is rupee. In our currency the head of Mahatma Gandhi always appears. From paper currency has that. On the other side, there may be tiger, Indian elephant, Himalaya etc. Gandhi was our national hero. He is known as our Father of the Nation. I think Gandhi definitely deserves such a position in Indian lives.

Hello,
I think it is interesting that you brought this up, I recently had a discussion with my husband (I am American and he is Algerian) about this. On the American dollars, we have a different president on each dollar... until you get to the $100 bill and it is Benjamin Franklin, who was a founding father of the US, but not a president... so I guess we have national heros, but all but one of them are presidents. My husband thought that was odd because in Algeria they only have animals on their coins... his religion does not permit drawing or reproducing human form, so they represent their country with animals... what is strange is most of the animals on their money do not live in Algeria, lol... their money is call a Dinar, I think... I'll have to double check that.
We live in France, where we use the Euro, the euro is fun because it is produced in all of the countries of the European Union and each country prints it's own images on the coins and bills. In France there is usually a picture of 'Marianne' who is a national hero, or one of their buildings... in Spain it is Franco who was a king I think... I have been to England, where they use the 'stirling pound' and it all has pictures of Queen Elizabeth on it.
Great topic!

Oh, it's the first time I meet Mylotter from France :) I went to Paris once and I completely didn't notice what their euro look like. Just know from you that each country can produce its own image, but it doesn't matter if I use French's euro when for example I go to spain right? Until now, cause my country only have 6 presidents, we only used 2 of them in currency, we even don't use their image anymore right now. Thanks for the response!
