Hello,
some years ago I was seriously considering becoming a vegetarian, I thought that being a vegetarian would most definately be the healthiest choice of eating... as so many meat factories were not practicing the types of sanitation they should when preparing meat, the animals being used for food sources are fed mostly steriods and other unhealthy mixes, some we probably don't even know about; you've heard about "mad cow" disease, e-coli...etc, hearing about the types of sicknesses food source animals were contracting had just about turned me off to meat and onto a possible vegan lifestyle...until...I saw the new newflash "e-coli found on spinach, and has been linked to several deaths", then lettuce, then peanut butter etc...now I'm thinking; is anything really that healthy to eat?? Some of us don't have the space to cultivate a vegatable garden or have the money (or the stomachs) to run our own farm/slaughter houses...so what is a the real "solution" for healthy eating in 2k9 and beyond?

Iam a vegetarian. and i only eat what i think is delicious. Im not famished either. I also only eat what givs me go, grow and glow. I have plenty of energy. It really surprizes me when people think you can not get full unless your eating meat. We get full too. Only on non meat things. Still fills you up.

The only things I do eat in the animal family are fish, and chicken in moderation. .
I feel if it has a face and I can love it how could ,I eat it!
I am not sure what carbs. have to do with not eating meat .I get carbs they are just healthy digestible ones ,that process in a healthy way. Best part is they are not sticking to my butt .It took my till ,I was in my thirty's to start this and now would fear eating anything such as beef or pork and , will never eat anything ,that my husband has shot during hunting season.I am allergic to all kinds of animal fats which is why ,I decided to do this in the first place. As you age your thoughts about your body change. There comes a time when we must do things to insure our health .

Vegetarian food generally we can eat only that much what is needed. With non-veg mostly people over-eat. yes, i do not eat those tasty spicy vegetarian food served at restaurants which are designed to get customers. I eat what is cooked at home, which mostly very bland and has its own taste, good for the body and soft on stomach and digests in stages so that the small intestine can absorb all that nourishment as it passes through it.
Tasty food, veg or non-veg as made to tickle your taste buds and not for your health. so one has to be choosy.

when i cook dinner at home,i will pay attention to the material,i will cook a meat dish and a dish just with vegetables,i think, the meat is the same important than the vegetable, they can meet different demands from our body, as g grown-up,should eat meat together with vegetable everyday.

My diet is vegan, which is no meat or dairy. I eat mostly a Raw Vegan Diet, which means no cooked foods at all. A lot of people think that you cannot get enough protein without eating meat. People also think that you need dairy for calcium.
This is not the case! Greens hold the key to a good vegetarian or vegan diet. There are a lot of people who fail at being vegan or vegetarian, because they just substitute meat with horrible things like tofu and soy products. They also eat more grains than they used to and end up feeling worse and then have to go back to eating meat to feel good.
The key is to eat more greens! You will get loads of minerals, protein, calcium etc. from eating more leafy greens. You may be saying 'I hate greens'. Well I used to as well, but now I love them. One of the best ways to get more greens into your body is to have Green Smoothies. These are greens such as spinach which are blended with fruit such as bananas, pineapple, mango, etc for a super nutritious drink that tastes great!
You will have more energy than when you load up on carbohydrates.

I don't think I can ever be a vegetarian.. surviving on vege all the time, it's a big no no for me. I don't mind the ritual of having 2 days a month, which are the 1st & 15th of the lunar month, but not for long term.
Even there are now varieties of 'vege meat' available in the market, however I don't find it a purpose, if I want to have chicken, I got to eat those made of flour instead of the real ones.. it's don't serve the purpose of dumping extra seasoning and flavouring into my body, just because I want to be vegetarian.
I mean, if I am going to turn into one, it will purely survived on vegetables, which I don't think I can. I do love vege, but I can't live just with them.. in addition, there are so many good and delicious food around..

It would be very difficult for me to be a vegan. I like to eat all kinds of things. We only live once and so I will eat what I like to eat. I do not subscribe to any religious vows or practice and so there is also no need for a meat-free day.

Hmmm amyson did you know that there are 6 kinds of vegetarian, rate your self to this. 1st LACTO OVO VEGETARIAN this people are not eating meat fish, pig, beef, chicken but they eat yogurt, eggs, cheese, milk and ice creams. 2nd LACTO VEGETARIAN this people are eating yogurt, milk, ice cream except EGGS. 3rd VEGAN this people eats pure vegetables, grians, beans, nuts, fruit and seeds only.4th MACROBIOTICS this people eats pure vegetarian BUT hey must avoid the nightshade vegetables likes Eggplant, potato, pepper, refined sugar and tropical fruits. 5th FRUITARIAN persons who only eats fruits and vegetables that are actually classified as avocados, nuts, seed, eggplant, zucchini and tomatoes. The last is the RAW or LIVING FOOD DIET and this person only eats vegetables that are not cooked into fire or any other things that can the food can be cooked. So were do you belong? ME? I belong to nothing jejejejejej, my partner and I are practicing to be a LACTO OVO VEGETARIAN beacuse do you know that people who are not eating meat live longer 2x than the people who are eating meat? and Vegetarian people are far from any cancer or disses rather than who are not? So???? Are you willing top chance your life style? Me nah! maybe. hehheheheheheheheheh

Hi, amyson
I don't think I will ever be a vegetarian. I love food too much. I like eating out and I also like cooking. It would be a lonely world for me if I only have vegetables to eat I actually admire those who have the discipline to become vegetarians.
Anyway, I also like vegetables. In fact, I have them as often as possible. I think you are right. Everything must be taken in moderation. Any food is harmless as long as we do not eat more than what is good for us.
Take care always!

No, I enjoy meat too much to give it up. Many of the health benefits of the vegetarian diet are exaggerated. They compare vegetarians to everyone else that is not. This is unfair, because many non-vegetarians really don't try to eat a balanced diet, so they have a very negative effect on the comparison. If two people each took the same care with their diet, and one was a vegetarian, and the other was not, there would be no real difference health wise.
Vegetarianism is a personal choice. If that's what you want for yourself, I wish you well at it. I just ask that you remember I have the same right to choose my own diet.

When I was a kid I never ate vegetables. I ignore all of them, because of its taste. But now I loved taking vegetables not just because of its taste but due to its health benefits. Whenever somebody wanted to acquire and maintain a good health, vegetable consumption is must.

I eat meat, veg and fruit and I will continue to until I die. I love trying different foods and like going places where the the local food is different than mine. Here where I live people fished, hunted and grew what vegetables they could in our climate. In colder climates you need more meat in your diet. I really like seafood most of all. I think the secret to good health is to need red meat in moderation and have a well balanced diet. Eating as much fresh food is a lot better than eating foods that are processed and canned. Anything with sugar in it will kill you, meaning its use as a sweetener or preservative.

Hello Amyson,
I am not a vegetarian. I eat what ever I like, included meat and vegetables and sea food and many more.
I have my friend they go for vegetarian because of religion. They even let their small kids go for vegetarian too. I am a little worry of the kids since they are still small, they should have taken all the kinds food to let them grow healthy.
