Are we headed for a great deppression?

Do you think we are heading towards a great depression? Is it possible or probable that the U.S will go into ruins? Do you think it will happen, What actions do you think the goverment needs to take and what would you do to prevent this?

We have been in a depression, and i believe that it is only going to get worst, before it gets better. i do not have any answers as to how to fix it. but something needs to be done.

If steps hadn't been taken to shore up the financial industry then more would have fallen and then we very well could have entered into a Depression. As it stands right now there have been signs of recovery even though too many people are still unemployed. The stimulus programs have helped.
