For me Shane Warne is the best spinner the world has ever seen.
Though records wise Muralidharan outshines him, but one needs to consider two facts:
First one is that Shane Warne has played most of his matches on those pitches which are considered to assist spinners while Muralidharan has played most of his matches on spinner friendly tracks. Secondly during Warne's time, Australia had great bowlers like Mcgrath, gillespie and Lee so by the time Warne's comes to ball, half the the opposition might be there in the pavilion, so he used to get less opportunities to pick wickets. The case is totally different for Muralidharan.

surely though if half the opposition had already been put into the pavillion by McGrath that left Warne bowling at the tailenders, surely an easier thing to do.
just had a look at the records as well Muri 783 wickets off of 42758 balls (wicket evert 54.5 balls) and Warne 708 off of 40705 (wicket every 57.5 balls). So whilst I take the fact that Warne had perhaps the worse of the conditions they both had similar number of balls in which they could get their wickets.

Muralidharan is of course the all time greatest spinner of the world. Shane Warne is the second best.India too has produced great spinners like B.S Bedi, Prasanna and chandrasekar.

Shane Warne did some great things include bowling Mike Gatting around his legs, but Muralitharen, and I know I can't spell his name, is better.
One of the bets though playing in UK County Cricket is Danish Kaneira.
