This is a chance for Americans and others to choose their president from this list of British Prime ministers. Choose who you like, dead or alive. UK residents please choose which prime minister to send over the pond. The list also includes a few who only wanted to be prime minister. Margaret Thatcher, Martin Bashir, Neil Kinnock, Benjamin Disraeli, Winston Churchill, John Major, Arthur Scargill, Gordon Brown, William Gladstone, Oliver Cromwell.

I'm not informed enough to make a decision. Just send us your worst one and help Bush move out of the position of worst president ever

Hi Zeph, not good enough, you must have heard of one of them, bearing in mind I think I forgot the present incumbant and Tony Blair. I lost the question once I'd typed it. Think back to those romances you must remember, Bush and Blair, Maggie and Ronnie. It's your country and you get to choose.

Ok, how about Tony Blair? I like his name. Is he a Liberal?

No, he was the guy who invented New Labour, or rather had it invented for him by Alistair Campbell. The UK press made out that Blair was a bit of a godlike figure in the US, were they making that up too? Tony who?

Hi sunny, I know full well my list is incomplete. I rattled off this discussion at my usual speed, pressed submit, and it disappeared. On second attempt I forgot to include Alistair Campbell and Tony Blair and several others who were on the first list. The idea is if you're fed up of the lot you can send one over the Pond to make some mischief there. I'm amazed no one has chosen Maggie Thatcher yet. Anyway, it's compulsory, you have to name one but you are welcome to choose one I left out.

Maggie was all for the survival of the corner shop, not American ways, apart from her attachment to Ronnie that is. The shop thing was with her being a grocers daughter.

Wow, not sure who to pick, i know very little about any of them or brittish politics for that matter. But, can we have that Danial Hannan fellow? I know he's just a parlimentary member and not a Prime Minister, but i do like the way this guy thinks. He seems to me to be the Brittish version of our own Ron Paul.

I know OF the older ones, just not a lot ABOUT them is all. Hannan is very libertarian in his thinking.

Hi xfahctor, after reeling in shock that you didn't know anything about the Uk rather unremarkable politicians, then I'm left reeling myself as never heard of the guy you mention. My excuse is of course that I don't live in the UK so not always up to date on these new people, but I know a lot about some outdated ones.

Hi thegreatdebater, possibly my own fault for forgetting to include Tony Blair up in the list but are you serious? What happened to the 'special relationship' between the UK and the US that you don't know much about the UK leaders. As you lay down the gauntlet of corrupting one of them I'll send you Maggie, she was one not renowned for being corrupt.

Hi thea09, My choice, Mr. Churchill, then Tony Blair, all are human with positives and negatives, also subject to times and circumstances. I would be interested in how the British people judged each of those who were elected. Take care.

Hi again artistry, well I wasn't round to know the judgement on Churchill but they did throw him out of office as soon as the war was done with. Blair was seen as new hope after all the Conservative cockups but didn't live up to his self proclaimed god like status. Chap couldn't read his autocue without Alistair Campbell telling him how to do it. Great big phoney basically.

Well it was really just my way of putting it, lets just say his term of office came to an end and they chose the other guy. As for choosing who I would send to America, well for my own amusement I would without a doubt send you Maggie Thatcher, as she certainly never stood for any nonsense, and there seems to be plenty of nonsense in current politics there which could do with a good sorting out no nonsense style. Anyone gets in her way she just handbags them. Plus you are yet to have a woman president so it would be something of a novelty. Your press could have a field day investigating whatever antics little Mark gets up to, so a good deal all round I'd say. You did ask for a British opinion.

Now I have to disagree here Holly as Maggie was only prim when she needed to handbag. One only has to study those eyes raised in adoration to Ronnie to see the wild woman within. Unfortunately too the female president you describe would most certainly spend her whole time in office defending claims that she was a 'token' leader.

Did I put this in pe? OK if I did satire is not demanded but much hoped for. It's our little play area for those not interested in being verbally bashed over in politics. Anyway if it's in pe horizontal bodies are most welcome indeed.

Hi Jillhill, another from across the Pond opting for Churchill I see. He appears to be the only UK leader actually known of over there or maybe the rest just appear as total flops. Good choice though

Hello Shamrack, as I was just saying it's up to the individual if they would send the best or the worst over. But in your case Winston Churchill it will be. I myself profess little knowledge about the leaders of your own country yet know about American leaders due to intense media coverage.
