Could you survive if all the technology ceased to function?

Have you ever stopped to think of how far the human race has advanced in the past 100 years? It wasn't too long ago that people travelled by foot or if they were lucky enough to have money they could travel by horse and/or carriage. Lighting consisted of oil lamps or campfires, communication over a long distance was by letter which sometimes took months to reach the intended party. Today we have instant communication and travel great distances in a matter of minutes or hours. We have become very used to getting things done quickly and more effeciently. Computers allow us to communicate with anyone we wish anywhere in the world instantly. If you need to obtain information or be entertained the computer is always right there. Even people in remote parts of the world have access with laptops and wi-fi and it seems that everyone has a cell phone. Do you remember when everyone was in a panic because 2000 was fast approaching and all the computers were expected to crash? What would happen if the terrorists were able to shut down all the computers at once. Computers control our electricity, transportation grid, water flow, and almost everything else you can think of. I was camping recently and realized that the number of campers who really "rough it" are few and far between. People were sitting by the campfire texting on their blackberry's or were conducting business on their cellphones. Ya, they knew how to make a campfire with wood they had purchased...how many know where to look in the forest for dry wood...or food for that matter. Do you know how and/or where to build a shelter? I don't think a majority of the population would be able to survive should everything technology wise come crashing down around their heads. As the world population grows and the food dwindles will the prosperous countries start to hoard what they have and no longer share it with the poor? Well, that's what I was thinking about while on the last camping trip. I think I'm prepared...I hope you are too!

Many prediction are saying things like this would happen later in 2012. I can not imagine if that happened, surely our life would be much worse than before. Because we have been accustomed to being pampered by technology.
