A trangendered woman and her boyfriend attended the TEA party at Milwaukee's Veterans Park on Saturday, Sep 19. They took a lot of pictures of the event and she posted a few of them on her facebook.
She has her privacy set so that only her friends can see her profile and pictures. She doesn't accept people on her friends list if she doesn't know them personally.
She was verbally attacked by many of her "friends". She cited example after example of the most vile things a person can say about someone else. She was called "f@gg0t" many times, and even a few insults to females I won't even mask here at mylot.
Needless to say that it shook her pretty badly. I mean, you get to expect an amount of name calling and visciousness in political discussions at times. For her lifestyle choices, she has probably had to develep a pretty thick skin just to survive... but from friends? Friends who had been to her home and she'd been to theirs?
Some of the worst came from school teachers.

That is a shame. Her friends treated her so badly over a Tea Party?
THey can deal with her being transgendered. But they draw the line at her attending a Tea Party?
Well it just goes to show you that people may tolerate some differences in their friends....but for the most part politics is not one of them. So much for the party of tolerance and differences.
At least not right now with tempers running so high on both sides.
The divide in the country is getting worse. People are putting people in two camps...the for us camp and the against us camp.
Which means agree with EVERYTHING we say do and stand for or you are against us.
There is no room for independent thought or feelings on the issues.
It is just "follow the party line" and stick up for the "party" no matter what.
Of course I am making the assumptions that her friends are democrats.
That is why I find that I don't talk politics with my friends. It causes to many issues.

Which is one of the reasons I've lost my taste for either major party.
It is sad that her liberal "Friends" can't seem to find it in their heart to respect her freedom of choice.

From what I have seen neither side respects the choices of other people UNLESS it is the same decision they would have made themselves.
So it is freedom of choice as long as I agree with your decision.
Which is shameful.

My first question is, was she doing any verbal attacking or taunting herself? If that's the case, then yeah, it makes sense that people would retaliate in some way, shape or form. Granted, the names that were thrown at her were nasty, but still and all, if she were also involved in the verbal war, she really has no ground to stand on. If she were not verbally attacking, then yes, the ones who were yelling insults were completely in the wrong.

No, in fact she didn't put any captions on the pics. She merely posted them under a title stating that they were from the Milwaukee TEA Party and that she had a great time.

How horrible and sad but true she had to develop a hard skin but I am further saddened by the thought of why? In this modern age and time when we know that she is genetically inclined to live such a life style do we question her way of living, even after such tremendous advances in science and education still we live in the 17th century norms. Give my consolation to your friend and tell her that with time this mindset will change and people like her only will change that. See we do have laws recognizing them as people at least now. Slowly change is coming and I am sure with next generation it will be much more faster.Till then have patience and may be choose her friends more carefully, those who care for her despite her choices in life.

That truly is sad. It goes back to my point that liberals demand certain minority groups be democrats. I've seen the same kind of behavior towards black republicans many times. I actually have transgendered friend who is a hardcore libertarian. Fortunately most of her friends are of similar political views so she hasn't been attacked for attending tea parties.

Yup, it's all, "think the right way, or you're not a real person".

First, to all reading this before making your own responses....this is NOT about her being attacked for being transgendered....she was attacked for supporting the TEA party rallies.
Now, for my own thoughts.
So much for tollerence. Apparently people can tollerate nearly ANYTHING but being anti-establishment or supporting the TEA party rallies and the various issues connected with them. If nothing else, this hopefully drives at least one more person away from the suposed "party of tollerence", and away from either of the two big parties in general.

These responses to her political views help to spotlight the fact that bigots run the political spectrum. Sometimes people who claim to be the most open minded are the worst kind of bigots. We should all eximine ourselves.

Exactly! Bigotry and hatred are human frailties, not specific to ideology or party.

People have the freedom and right to choose her or his gender. If the person herself or himself feel good,it will be al right.I will not attack other people because this kind of question. In my university,it is not allowed to discriminate others, and attacking someone's gender choosing is a serious discrimination.I believe US is a free country and the women you are talking should have her own happy life.If someone does not respect her, this guy is not her real friend.

The abuse wasn't about her being transgendered, it was because she attended a political rally that they didn't agree with.

There's not a lot of information here to follow through or comment on. People whos choose to change their gender are often misunderstood, I'm sure. But I'm sure there are more Americans who would try to help rather than ridicule. Tea party protests were filled with people from all walks of life and ideologies, as you probably know. People are always frustrated when their voices are stifled.

True, at TEA parties, I've met lots of democrats from union members to people who voted for Obama but don't like what he's doing. The incompetent press and liberals want everyone to believe that these are specifically right wing events...
I guess to them, the people at them who aren't right wing don't count as people.
