When a Worse Day Makes a Bad Day Look Better

My day today was so bad today that I now look back at all my other bad days and think how good they were. I'm not going to go into it, I don't want to. At all. But maybe some of you know what I'm talking about? When you have a day that is worse than any of your previous "bad days", and all of those other "bad days" don't seem quite that bad at all. By the way, I realize to all of you who want to point out how good I have it for not living in a starving nation... that yes I am blessed, yes I know I am blessed, yes I am glad I have fingers to type that I am blessed, and even though I am blessed, I can talk about a bad day if I want to and it doesn't mean I'm ungrateful.

Hey Ambie~ What is a bad to one doesn't mean that it isn't a really bad day so don't worry I understand! No need to justify! Your real friends here understand perfectly! There is no explanation necessary. I am sorry that things are bad between you and your Dad. I have alot of those days with my Mom and we don't even live in the same state. Thankfully since I finally went to visit her things have gotten a little better, but that changes from minute to minute. So I will just tell you what I do. Just breathe, try to take your mind off whatever for a little while and maybe things will be better tomorrow. If not I am only a pm away!

Hey, if you knew my relationship with my dad, you'd know you weren't too off base! But no, in this case it wasn't him. Poor guy. He's really a sweetheart. We're just so different from each other.

AmbiePam tell us please we all have broad shoulders, weep on 'them as we have wept at times on yours. I do know what you mean and have been there and done that.when I came here to this god awful retirement center with the scmaltyz name Gold Crest I thought the worst day in the world was that d ay,I was separated'from the only family I had my son, and thrust =into a place I did not want to be with complete strangers. I have now learned to be happy by mylotting and by talking to the few people here who are not missing a few scres in their respective heads.some retire and get dumped here as they are senile and thats sort of sad.I am not and wish i were in myown apartment but until my son can get a good job againthat cannot happen so i must be happy each day, it is a gift from God each day.so whynot be happy.

No it does not mean that you can not have bad Days Yes we are lucky to have a roof over our Heads, Food and as you say Fingers to type but it does not mean we can't have bad Days The only time I have really bad Days now is when my Illness sets in but I used to have many bad Days and I mean many, then I was healthy and working but I had Marriage and that is all I will say, so now I hardly have bad Days, as I have that peace after getting out of it Sweetie no matter what anyone says we all have bad Days but we are grateful for what we have, but it does not stop bad Days Hugs to you

Hello AmbiePam. I agree with you that when a worse day happens, all of those bad days don't seem to be so bad if we give it a comparison with each other. I did not know what has happened to my dear AP, but I wish you were ok by now since it is a few hours (5 hours, to be exact) behind the time when the discussion was posted. Cheer up, my dear friend.

I know that when I am feeling terrible and I am having a very bad day it is not appreciated to be told that ‘I have a lot to be grateful for etc…’ It may be true but it just does not help because I believe that we are entitled to bad days and feeling sorry for ourselves at least some of the time! I think I understand what you mean when you say “When a Worse Day Makes a Bad Day Look Better”. All I can say is that if you wish to share I would be willing to help if I can and I wish for you to have a much better day tomorrow!

It must be something in the air here Ambie. Yesterday was a day from hell. Maybe we just got all the crummy stuff out of the way so that the rest of the week is smooth sailing? Just to be on the safe side, I'm getting a Powerball ticket for tonight...lol. Hey, you never know...

I have alot of bad days too more than I have good ones. I have learned to measure them out also and not let it ruin my whole day too. I have had alot worse days alot of times and the opther bad ones weren't so bad afterall also.

I'm bipolar, and most of all I'm thankful this day did not do anything to cause a drastic mood swing. I'm not a drastic person, I'm not a drama queen. But on a day like this, I'm just glad I was able to laugh in frustration and pain, instead of cry in frustration and pain.

Aww--Ambie I'm sorry to hear you're going through a day in hell. Knock on wood, I haven't had really crappy bad days in a loooooonnnnggg time and hope to keep it that way. But I'll tell you each and every day of the year 2006 was my winner year filled with each day being or at least seeming to be worse than the day before. I just MIGHT be facing a glitch though and not my fault but my landlord's. Okay here's the deal. I sent my money order for my rent September 3 via certified mail. I have done this for three years so I have all kinds of proof I mailed my rent and can track when the certified letter is picked up. Well by tracking it, I found out there was an attempt to deliver on Sept 4--the next day, but no one was there to accept my certified letter with my money order so a notice was left. So then the Labor Day weekend came along..so figured it would be picked up that following Tues or Wed...nope wasn't--so kept tracking it. Finally I write a letter with all the proofs of my sending the rent (sent it regular mail) and mailed that out--in the meantime I get a letter from THEM..saying my rent was past due and tacked a late fee. I have another letter to mail them...yes, yes, yes, I could call and plan to during the week, maybe tomorrow but I dread calling the landlords office as all along I'm been trying to have a low profile after all the trouble my mother had caused (and you know THAT story..LOL). To date, still tracking my certified letter with my money order for my rent still hasn't been picked up...I'm thinking they are going to be sending it back to me soon if it isn't picked up. So...isn't life fun? My new letter to them tells them off that NO my rent is NOT late and to waiver the late fee as it is NOT my fault that they didn't pick up my letter with my rent...oh, gee, isn't life fun?

Dearest Ambie, please don't apologize, you certainly are entitled to a down day, and hopefully it is only ONE! I truly hope, what has piroueted you into the doldrums is NOT insurmountable...and time will heal! If anyone makes an attempt to point out how good you have it...how would they KNOW? Dang it...there is an expression..."the straw the broke the camel's back," sometimes it is the littlest things, when added up bring on a truly, truly BAD day! I pray you found some peace, got some sleep...and today loomed sunny! Take care...and please PM me if you wish to VENT! Worrying about you!

Awww, poor little AmbiePam, I feel so bad for you. Although!, it's a whole day later! Are you feeling better today I hope? OMG, I sound like Spongebob, he's so darn chipper and such an optimist, haaha! Honestly though, I do know what that's all about, and it's so hard to believe anything could get worse. Sometimes I thought I was on the bottom of the pit, but nooooooo, that was just a teaser. Worse was yet to come and it's just hard to imagine that it could get any worse. And if you don't want to talk about it, that's ok. We'll wait. And wait some more. And we're still waiting. Ok, spit it out. We need a new discussion started by you on what happened, we're all curious and here to help.

You're a good cheerer upper. I must be feeling better if I'm making up a word. I'd go into it, but I really don't know how. I was talking to my mom that night and she asked me to tell her about it. I seriously couldn't find words. It was just like a day where all the dominos fell, right after another. But things were better today. Thank you!

That "blessed" part was kind of aimed towards people who pop up in discussions about the meaning of life, when some discussions are out of pure frustration and no one wants to get a "pat" answer. I was trying to avoid some possibly rude responses from ME, if anyone went the meaning of life way in their own response.

Many times there are those of us who think we are going thru or having a Bad day, and then until something worse than this happens to us, or we run into people out of our norm with situations in life worse than ours it makes us appreciate the times we thought were Bad as well. I know that Yes, we will always not have the Best days there are to be lived, but if we often do what we need too to keep our life moving on like it should in time anything that happens will pass, and we will appreciate those Bad times in our life as well.

The one good thing about bad days is that when you have a good or average day, you appreciate it so much more.

Everyone has bad days, and then days that were worse then others. Everyone has a right to talk about the bad day too... and it doesn't mean you don't think your blessed, or that your ungrateful, all it means is that your acknowledging you had a bad day. Sometimes just talking about it helps! So No, I don't think your ungrateful, I don't even think your complaining... You're just realizing that this is the worst of the bad days you've had.

I saw this discussion for what it was, a way to vent... I guess a lot of people did see it that way, and then there was some that said you should just be grateful... Maybe they didn't read it? I don't know.

You're right. Even if we're in a bad situation now, there were the days when it's worse. Even if we're not, they're people in worse situation than us. We should be grateful. When I thought I was penniless, I still have a home to live in. There were homeless people everywhere. Regardless how bad our situation, we still can be grateful.
