I have a question that may seem innane to vetern myLotters but one of the guidelines is to not duplicate a discussion topic, isn't that difficult not to do? I mean I am a newbie and I went on new user and almost everyone introduced themselves and asked for tips on what to do next (which was really helpful by the way) but when I went to think about posting a discussion subject and topic, I wondered how do I know if this wasn't posted previously. Anyway, I am glad that I found this site, it truly is interesting and I would appreciate any responses and suggestions on making this fun and financially fun too!

Hi limamachina, if you are still in doubt on this one then the search button is at the top right of the page and you can type in your title or subject and see if it has already been done. It's fine to use the same subject again as long as it is from a different angle. You've no doubt seen all the contant repetitions of pizza and ice cream toppings which come up on a daily basis, they are usually deleted within the next couple of days as they are not only repetitious but intensely boring non discussions. I don't tend to use the search button as seem to have original thoughts, plus post a lot in the Greek life style interest I set up but if you are unsure then use the search buttone. My advice is never post anything you aren't really interested in ss if it takes off and you have a deluge of replies it can be really boring to respond to them all. I got caught like that once and make sure my interest is there to respond to all who respond.

You're welcome, it will also give you the idea of which discussions work as opposed to questions and answers. It's not the number of responses that count but the interaction. There was a lot of that on body 1.

Thea, that is great advice. Thanks for the tip. I'm starting to get the gist of this and realized that responding to discussions for a bit until I'm more sure of the discussions I would like to start is the way to go. Thanks for all the info!

hi there! Welcome to this great site! Everytime you want to start a new discussion/topic, my advice is for you to take a quick look inside the subject you choosed to see if already exists. When answering to new discussions, my advice to you is to go to "no responses" and/or "recent". One other thing that I was told here is that you should have a big list of friends. After all, this is a social network. In facebook for example, I woul not add strangers, but here I open an exception. So, I just took the liberty of sending you an invitation :)

Hi CALLIBAN, It's funny that you wrote about facebook, I am exactly the same way, I wouldn't add strangers but I am also for the first time making an exception. Thank you for your invitation and your advice. I have been enjoying exploring the different tabs and interests.

I am new too but I think you are supposed to look at the discussions that have already been started in the area of interest that you are considering. And it is very difficult not to start similar discussions or similar responses to discussions but I guess learning how to make the most out of MyLot is all part of the fun. I am just enjoying getting to voice my opinion where I can and if I don't get more than a few pennies for it, well that's ok with me. I do not think you will make much earnings here though from what I have read in others discussions even the "oldies" don't seem to make huge daily amounts.

Thank you sderringer, I think that was my point about the similarity in discussion topics but I also think what you wrote is right on and that is making the most of myLot. Great to be able to voice opinions!

Yes it is great to be able to add my two cents worth and actually get paid the two cents to do it. Not a bad deal.
