(maybe this one will be deleted too, right?) I don't want to sound official here. I am not a mylot official. I would just like to share my observation. Yesterday, I responded to a discussion about decreasing earnings. There were only a few discussions I responded to yesterday. And when I checked on them to see if my responses have comments, I noticed that that discussions is gone. So people, don't start discussions about decreasing earnings anymore. OK? Thanks!

I believe that decreasing earnings discussions are considered in part as discussing the algorithm. I would advise everyone to just not start a discussion or respond to a discussion that is any way discussing earnings. If the person is on your friends list, pm them, if not add them... but if they continuously start discussions against rules and nothing that can be responded to, delete them... It's your call whether you warn them or not. That's my opinion! How are you?

This is nothing new. There are many reasons in the Do's and Don'ts of the myLot discussion guidelines that indicate why posts about decreasing earnings would be removed. For example: Discussion Guidelines - http://www.mylot.com/o/guidelines.aspx - in the Do's, "Make sure you search for existing topics before starting new discussions." People ask repeatedly why their earnings decrease and the question has been answered. - in the Don'ts, "Post anything that inaccurately explains the myLot earnings algorithm..." Also, myLot already explains clearly in its own FAQ why earnings may decrease: Earnings and Payment Information FAQ - http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq6.aspx Why do my earnings fluctuate? *From time to time it is necessary for myLot to recalculate earnings for the month to curb users trying to game the system. Our proprietary earnings algorithm periodically recalculates all estimated daily earnings for the previous month to take into account posts that have been deleted in the abuse and moderation processes. *During the recalculation of earnings some users with lower-quality contributions will see a decrease. Any money deducted from users due to our abuse and moderation processes is then reallocated to myLot users based on certain qualitative factors. Due to this, earnings will fluctuate. *myLot members who have a decrease in earnings have had one or more posts deleted throughout the month. The main reason for this could be that you started a discussion that violated our guidelines or terms, that you responded to, or commented on, a discussion that violated our guidelines or terms, or that a comment you made on a blog article or news story violated our guidelines or terms. *Please become familiar with our myLot Guidelines and Terms of Use to avoid the possibility of having your posts deleted in the abuse and moderation processes. *myLot does not reward low-quality contributions, or even worse, attempts to game the earnings algorithm. *Remember, your earnings are all estimated until paid. Hope this helps :)

Absolutely welcome, richiem! You're right that it's a good idea to get familiar with the guidelines and the FAQs as soon as possible after joining here. It's such a shame to spend time participating, only to have those earnings disappear because content has to be removed. Nicer to see that earnings number going up a little each day, most definitely!

However, newbies are always up to making money that they neglect to read the rules. I was like that when I was a newbie.

Thanks for clearing this all out with this explanations from mylot guidelines. I hope mylot newbies have read this discussion or those guidelines so they won't start anymore discussions that would end up being deleted and then start a discussion about them. Thanks a lot!

I haven't been on here for a LONG time and I make money off my own website so i don't care about earnings off here. my guess though would be newbies breaking the rules.

I think even old members still do it. And then they would wonder why their earnings are getting lower.

A lot of times I think it depends on what type of feedback, etc. is started or sometimes how someone responds that will often times find a discussion removed from here as well. Yes, earnings do change in here all the time, and sometimes your discussions are affected by it, but in the TOS it says this is against the rules to discuss so if it happens we need to just let it be as well.

YEah, that happens all the time.. ONe of my frenz here started a similiar post yesterday, but before i can respond to it, it's already being deleted.. lol =D I dunno why its being deleted or whatever, because i dun see anything wrong with it in the first place.. Posts about increased in earnings are fine, but why not decrease?? lol =D BUT anyway, for all those whom had responded to 'deleted' posts, just take it easy.. For, it's something we cant control ^_^

Read response #3 above, it'll give you the whole idea. But you have a point when you say decrease discussions are not permitted while increase discussions are. But hey, they would always need a good publicity. Control? No. Prevent? Yes.

Thanks for responding to this discussion HellCowboy. Nice to talk to you again. Congratulations to you and SomeCowgirl. I am really happy for you too. About the decreased earnings, I guess they are a part of the mylot experience but I am just hoping that their occurences would be minimal. Thanks!

thanks for the advise richiem. i know how it feels to get discussions removed and all responses to them will all be gone. i also think it's about time that people here stop discussing about earnings, post numbers, star ratings. those are keywords that we should, as for me, prevent from posting as started discussions.

I've read somewhere that the less you talk about your earnings, or the less you worry about them, the more you earn. Of course that's can't be measured quantifiably, but it makes sense. Let's focus on discussions other than those things.

Hey richiem! I guess you were wrong! Your discussion is still here! So maybe I am just tempting fate by responding!lol I do know that there have been weird things happening here and it is true about the decrease in earnings because I have witnessed it myself! I don't know why mylot wants to keep it a secret since we are aware that our earnings are being depleted without knowing why. I think you are brave to start this discussion and I give you alot of credit for doing so and telling the truth!

I just want this cleared for all the newbies out there, even if this discussion will only be visible to them for just a few days. And yes, looks like this discussion won't be deleted after all. I think it's because those who have responded to this discussion has been helpful enough to make this a valuable article of information and advice. (But I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.)

Well it looks like this one cleared, but I agree it's best to not waste your time on discussions that you feel will be deleted.

Yep! (But sometimes, I can't fight the urge, especially when they are newbies. I can't help but explain to them about it even if I know that my response would also be deleted.)

Yes Yesterday, I have started one discussion about MyLot earnings, now that discussion is no where seen. Its been deleted, may be mylot doesn't want to have discussions on earning within it. Anyways not a problem, until unless they don't disable our ID. I wont start any discussion in future related to MyLot earnings.... Have a nice day, JnK

I think they will delete you user id when you commit repeated violations. Others are wondering because mylot doesn't give warnings or notifications when we violate the rules but I think when our discussions are deleted, it means they are warning us.
