Hello friends I am asking one question is it necessary to discuss about pokhran II test after a gap of one decade. My quyestion is that why at that time the scientist, who has raised such issue ,not disclosed the matter. Why after one decate. Is it not a meaningless issue at present. Plz share your views.

I think the matter is raised now so that they can conduct another test again. If the previous one was just a failure, then ten years down the line they would have the technology to make it a success. They might have then thought that if such an issue is made then public pressure may be there to go for another test. If such an issue is made, say, 5 years back and public pressure developed then they would be in a soup as they wouldn't be in a position to conduct a successful test then. But now they have the know-how they wanted to make create a public pressure so that they go for another test.
But I think we should not go for another test. As that would invite international pressure. I don't think India needs more bomb. We need more food for drought hit areas; more shelter for flood hit people and so on. I am for nuclear deal since that will enable us to generate electricity, but I am against testing of nuclear bombs so that when situation arises we can wipe off another country from the face of the earth.

development of nuclear technology is an ongoing process and it did not stop with pokhran II. it is not as easy as detonating a device. the data collected is analyzed which can take several years. also some more developments might have been made and the data may now be analyzed in the context of new developments made. so ten years back what might have been considered as sufficient, may now be considered as insufficient.
