every village needs an idiot every bus needs an evangelist. i've been cornered many times by them, in various countries. usually by the god squad but i was trapped once by a lunatic banging on about animal rights. if anything was going to make me a carnivore again that would. how do you feel about these people and why do you think they do it? do they ever actually convert anybody? i'm usually fairly nice to them because they do think they are doing good but if i see a pair of suspiciously cleancut people advancing towards me i'm across the street at the speed of light. i also have frequently claimed to be a muslim if i haven't been able to hide from a bible basher.

Your comment about being muslim...I remember when I was in high school the JWs always came to my house and finally after a night of heavy drinking I answered the door and it was them. They started on their whole spew thing and I was so hung over and I just looked at them and said, "I worship the devil, I'm not interested in what you have to say".

Now, I just tell them that they should use the Bible instead of that newspaper thing they carried. What is that called? The Watchtower or something? Oh, where is that Kitty so she can tell me...

Hi jb, life is too short to be preached at when I already have my own mind and don't need to borrow someone elses. I'm more than happy to have a coffee with the local pappas and don't mind at all if he wants to show me the cutlery in his briefcase but I think he's wise enough not to go religious on me.
I commend your politeness my dear, in these instances I don't have it in me, but find just one look in the eye, reserved for such events as you describe, suffices with perfect clarity.

It's just so unexpected for them as I look so sweet.
Actually I've never encountered this even once in Greece with the toothfairies, but those bloody JW's on the one day of the week I got a lie in back in the UK never dared open my gate a second time.

Oh ! They are a nuisance at the best of times. Here in Trinidad you see them on weekends and all week standing on the street corners handing out these leaflets and asking about various things.
I personally believe that religion is yourself and God and God does touch each and every one of us at some point in our lives.
Its also determines the next life you will have so you should pay attention to it and not worry too much about people who are really trying to do something to say they are doing something.
If you know what I mean ?

It's like spammers and scammers. They wouldn't do it if they didn't get people to bite once in a while.
Not that I'm comparing what an evangelist is selling to a spammer or a scammer, merely making the point that if the never converted anybody ever, I seriously doubt they'd be out making the effort.

Very soon after Prop 8 passed, I moved into a new apartment in San Diego right after quitting smoking. A couple of mormon youths who live in my apartment.were always walking around witnessing to people. I was so agro from quitting smoking, and after all the money the mormons gave to support Prop 8, I wanted them to talk to me.
I wanted it so bad. I was just itching to fight.
Somehow, they sensed that I should be left alone.
It's been 7 months and they've barley even said 'hi' to me.
