Vilma Santos for vice president?

Philippines
September 23, 2009 5:50am CST
Manny Villar has still no chosen anyone to be his vice president, as well as the administration's bet Teodoro. Although Willie Revillame is now being heard as one of the choices, it seem to be far from reality. However, Batangas governor and highly acclaimed actress Vilma Santos may be a better choice instead. The latter however said that she will not run for any higher position. Now, what do you think about Vilma Santos for vice president? No hurting words, please.

I don't really like the idea of having a politician that comes from entertainment world. Because it's not their turf they were only chosen by some because they are popular and some politician are riding the bandwagon just to get the attention. There are people are good at their field but fails miserable on other things. With Vilma Santos though has track records as governor it doesn't mean she is best on higher position. It is risky thing to do as we have experienced with Erap.

Villar is an opportunistic. He immidiately came over willie's house after WILLIE DESECRATED CORY AQUINO's BURIAL CEREMONY which turn into a scandal that offended every Filipino.

About for Vilma Santos for Vice President, I think she has a unique character traits when we see her as a "public servant". One, she is very sincere, two, she has the quality and charm for the best interest of the people like when she was a Mayor and then a Governor now. I have seen Batangas before she became a Mayor and Governor, now I have visited Batangas especially Lipa and I was surprised, Batangas is in full blast when it comes to its developments, the infrastructure is superb, investors are at large, malls left and right, schools and universities there are improving. Hospitals are being supported by the Government Officials and that is because of her leadership, charm and influence. Whether we like it or not, for me if she runs for the position, I will vote for her and silently campaigning for her for my friends, relatives and people I will meet because I believe and trust her as a public official. Vice President, a big YES because we need a change to recover what the past administration did. Vilma can be a part to lead that CHANGE! /edwin from Jeddah,KSA

I do not know why this has been persistent rumors already the Lakas camp has not invited her to run for the VP position and Vilma has several times denied that she wants the position so I think this rumor remains rumor unless Vilma would file her candidacy on October for that position.

I think Vilma Santos is one of the few showbiz personalities who were able to make good as an elective official. She did well as mayor of Lipa City and is doing good as governor of Batangas. She is not just glamor, she knows what is meant to be a public servant. I do think she can be a good vice president too. For one thing, Ms. Santos-Recto does not sit on her laurels. She is one type of person who keeps on learning to be able to do whatever she needs to do.

You know, my friend. Vilma Santos, has the right decision in her life. She said that she never left Batangas, and happy to be a local executive there. But many dirty politicians want her to run as Vice President. I think Vilma Santos, should not accept those offer because that will bring her down... In the case, of Willie Revilame. He should not aim that high, he should be contented in his position as of this time that many people believes in him not in the politics because politics is different from his industry. Leave those games to politicians. Because they know how to play better than those new politicians. It is fine if Willie, Aims only those local positions because pressure is not really hot...

Are there no other better candidates than former actors and actresses? What about the academia? I feel so frustrated with all these happenings in the Philippines. I have nothing against Vilma Santos but I don't think she is qualified for the job. Often, actors and actresses win in politics because they are popular and receive a wide media coverage.

Hi fatherblogger! I've heard that the administration camp is lurking Governor Vilma Santos to be the Vice president of Secretary Gilbert Teodoro. This is simply to boost the appeal of Gibo and make him popular with the masses. In fairness to Governor Vi, I think she have done a great job in Batangas even though she lacks the proper knowledge about political laws. Maybe it is her desire to help the people and the true service that she renders which matters most. Have a nice day!

I don't think that Vilma Santos is that ambitious. Maybe her husband has plans but not Vilma. If I remember right, Vilma had to think hard for running for the local government in Batangas. I think that Vilma's political plans are that she's really into public office to serve the people. And I think that she has done a good job so far. I don't think that her plans would extend to the national elections at least not just yet. And with Ralph Recto who definitely has political ambitions, she may yet be a first lady in the future.

From what I watched on her interview in Ch. 2 while they are filming there movie in the US she said that she don't want to run in higher position. She is contented on here position right now and she only want to serve the people in Batangas

I think Vilma Santos will be a good pair for Gilbert Teodoro. That ticket will be the dark horse for this election. Vice President is non-sense anyways, we need someone that supports the president rather than bring down the president. Im just worried she will be compared to Sarah Palin, yikes.

hello, With regards to Vilma Santos, I believe she has the experience already to run for office. However, when it comes to the part of running for Vice President, i believe she needs more experience since She's the second or substitute to the President who ever may win. for now,am not sure yet if she can qualify for that position. Willie the Puppy, NO way, i tell you now am not voting for this guy, that's too much he's already a rich and doesn't need to be richer

If you ask me, I'd rather have Vilma Santos rather than Willie Revillame. I've heard good things about Vilma during her term as governor. She really might be doing well, not just because she's a celebrity, but the people of Lipa really do love her (as I saw on tv). As for Willie, I'm sorry to say, I've never really felt he was really sincere with everything that he's done. So I guess that would be my answer, I'd rather have Vilma run than Willie. :)

If Willie will run for the second highest position in the Philippine Government, I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HIM. What will he do? He is already a multimillionaire from the Talent Fee he recieve being the host of the very popular wowowee show. It is enough to help other people like granting scholarship not for ten students or twenty but thousands who are so needy that even food serves as their daily goal for a day hardwork. I guess the will to help exist but it is more than just the will but the personal preparedness of a person to handle the great responsibility of attached of being of any position in the government. This might be the reason why Governor Vilma Santos is not yet decided to run for a national election this 2010. I heard she is a good politician in Batangas (am i right?) and I will vote for her if ever she finds herself prepared for it.

what the he^! is happening to our politicians?! are you serious?! this is not a popularity contest FYI. these people should try to know their place in the society. They dont have the right to obtain a national position in the government. thats all i can say.

Hi fatherblogger. Personally, I think that Ms. Vilma Santos is unlikely to run for the 2nd highest office in our country. It came right from her that she has not plans for higher office. She is doing very well as Governor of Batangas. It is very much different from being the VP of a country.
