I am going mad as well as confused that how to handle my colleague who is irritable. actually i got a addition job to allote case and supervise few people under me and he is also in those people. and above all he is elder to me. I normally request people to do work and if they dont i have to be more responsible as wel as strict to get work done. Now i spock to him he said that my superior know every thing, hence i went to my superior to know. but even she didnt knew. Now he will be taken for one on one and that may effect his future groth. I dont know what to do now. pls suggest

you were just doing your job. you did what you had to do. so you need not feel bad about it. also it is obvious that the person in question had lied to you (for whatever reason) so he should bear the consequences. if you had ignored your duties then you would have to face the consequences.

depends what kind of irritable they are... i give rude people the cold shoulder and act rude back. if its someone trying to be dumb, i usually call them on it. if theyre naturally dumb i'd feel bad so i just ignore it.
but, there are a lot of types of irritable people. te best way to deal is to ignore or to give them their own medicine : )

Hey buddy,
There are many such people around us, you cant just keep thinking a abt them.
One thing you can do is just ignore the person but also the same time keep an eye on him as is he completing the alloted work and report to your supervisor abt it.
The other thing is : Allot him more and diffcult work so that he will be busy the whole day and will not have time to think or irritate you...
:)

Probably the only one who can make a suggestion would be your superior and from the sounds of it she is already having a problem with him. Sounds like he will try to pit the two of you against each other, so the best thing is for your and her to work together. If he resents you for having more authority even though you are younger, he undoubtedly also resents her for being a powerful woman. Good luck!
