We rather click and read emails for pennies but we won't even dare pick up a penny off
the ground or the sidewalk regardless of how many pennies are laying about...

My 6 yo is hoping people continue doing just that. He's been finding and picking up change off the ground since he was 3 years old and already has found well over $100. When we were in Disney earlier this year, he was coming back from the parks with about $1 in found change each day.
I guess pennies must be worth more in a bad economy, because he had not been finding much this year (except for Disney) but now as the economy seems to be improving, pennies are worth the effort of bending down to pick them up...and that's fine ith my youngest...he'll gladly clean them up.
If only I could get him to pick up his toys so willingly...

Hi Sirnose

I will pick up a penny off the street in a heartbeat I don't discrimminate I'll pick up a penny a dime nickel quarter, dollar whatever I look at it this way its money I didn't have before I saw it laying there on the ground. I 'm all for picking up money I have accumulated a nice amount of pocket change over the years doing just that my husband does it too hes found coins in all denominations, dollars bills ranging from 1's-2o's
It all adds up whether its coins or bills

I pick up pennies off the ground when I see them, only if they are heads up though.

Speak for yourself! I always pick up coins lying on the ground. Haven't you heard the saying "Find a penny, pick it up and all the day you'll have good luck"? Okay, so I don't really care about the luckiness part, but IT'S FREE MONEY. All these pennies (or in my case, 5 cent pieces) add up, y'know.

Not me. I pick up all the pennies on the sidewalk or the bus stop. The only ones I don't pick up are those in the middle of the street when the"walk" sign is about to change to "Don't walk" for fear I will be hit by a car. I have jars full of pennies and ever so often I go to one of those grocery stores that have a counting machine for change. I pour in all my pennies and use the money I get towards my groceries. Pennies are money, wether we find them on the sidewalk or the internet.
