How often do you get a new cell phone?

How often do you upgrade your phone? Personally, I like to replace mine every 6-12 months or so. I like to have the newest features, but some people like to get a phone, and stick with it. What is the longest you've ever had the same phone for? For me, I would say around 3 years I had the same old phone, because I didn't have any money to upgrade it. After the 3rd year of the same phone, I was so jealous, seeing what everybody else phones could do. I couldn't even text, it was so bad. The last time I upgraded my phone was in January, I'm wanting to get a new one, but I think I'll wait until around Christmas. I'll try to make it about a year, I think that's good.

Well i treat my cell very badly so you might guess its situation, my previous cell Sony Ericsson still works but i dropped it so many times that the connection between speaker and main board is broken so i cant hear ring but if i tilt it slightly, it get connected.. My current Motorola cell phone its kinda giving lots of problem after so many experiments, so thinking of buying new cell.. I buy cell phone after using it for an year but one of my friend is serious cell phone freak, he doesn't even use cell phone properly for 2 months, he experiments with it, gets bored and gets new one..

Upgrade in a sense change parts or go in for a new one...?! But as per your discussion it says in that you feel jealous about people going in for new phones and that means that you wanted to go in for a new phone. There are phones that are good and if one is not an electronic geek then he can stick in with the same one but on the contrary if one feels that he has to be up to date with the latest version of mobiles and electronically sound then they are inclined to some what make this as an hobby of changing phones. In the same way some people feel that they are happy with their same old phone and a phone is a phone and it is meant to talk in terms of emergency and to the point in spite of making long calls and wasting money over the phone one can pass on the message if it is too urgent and can all the individual to come personally and speak face to face...smiles...thanx

Mine is every 12-months. For resale value issues, I don't let the phone stay with me on more than 1 year. Most of the time, I sell the phone-at-hand to my friends/relatives, then buy a new one. =)

I got a cellphone about 4 years ago, and I was just fine with it. I use a cellphone exclusively for making or receiving phone calls, I´m just not interested in that other stuff, I don´t shoot movies, I don´t even know how to send a text message. A year ago the PHONE COMPANY decided that everybody should get a new cellphone, would you believe it? There was some technical reason for it, but they told everybody to change their phone (as in: buy another one) by the end of the year. It really ticked me off, but I didn't have a choice. So I got the cheapest one available on the market, and I consider it now a disposable gadget, since they might pull a stunt like that again.

Well, let me see... The last time I bought a cellular phone was around May this year. I usually by cellular phones at least once every year... Or rather sell them or have them swapped to a newer model.

It's good to get a cellphone in nice exchange offers, otherwise there is no need to change the phone until some software problems are experienced periodically. If you buy a mobile make sure that it comes with the features you required and make sure that you get good reviews of the mobile rather than regretting in the future. There is lot of competition in the mobile market these days with new models being introduced every week.We have to keep in mind about the resale value of the mobile we purchase.

I get a new one about every 3 years. I never really see the point in getting a new one because I usually really like my phone, so I wait until it's almost completely unusable.

I've had my current one for about a year. Usually after that point, I'm so bored with it that I feel like I HAVE to get a new phone, or I feel obligated to because I've broken something or something's not working quite right (and my warranty by that time has run out). It usually ends up being a yearly thing for me, for some reason.

I never have a brand new cellphone always. I had my brand new cellphone just bought last year. cellphones prices today are high so i cannot afford to have a new cellphone always. It would take three years for me to buy a new one until my old cellphone needs to be replaced.

I will use a phone until if gives up on me. My cell is currently 6 years old. It has fallen several times but still works perfectly. My husband gave it to me in 2003. Expensive at that time but it had already everythng - text messaging, email, camera (picture quality though is not so good), voice/video recorder, etc. I don't use all the functions hence, I don't see why I need to buy a new one as it still works well.

Hey, if it's on your parents dime you should get a new one every 5-6 months! Haha! Just kidding, I wouldn't do that to my parents. They would make me buy it myself if I tried that.

I don't change my cellphone so often. In 2004 I bought a smartphone and I changed it on February 14th this year at last. Now my cellphone is Samsung I900 and I like it. If it won't have any big quality problems, I think I can use it for years:) I am satisfied with its features. I love China

I like to keep up with the latest phones, so I get a new one about once a year or so. However, the one I have now, I will probably keep longer, as it is a nice phone and has all the features on it, I could ever want. I might not use all the features, but at leasst I have them if I would ever decide to. I like the latest technology and all the bells and whistles. The phone I have now, is the best one I have had. I am glad that I purchased it as it does eerything I need it to, and more. Have a good day, and happy mylotting.

I am not a cellphone person. So I just change my cellphone when there are already defects starting to show in my phone. So far, I changed my cellphone four times already in a span of 8 years. That is an average of around 2 years for every cellphone. The longest time I had the same phone was also around 3 years. I am thinking of getting a new cellphone early next year.

About 2 years for each phone isn't bad. It's twice as long as I wait, but I think it's still pretty up to date, two years later. But, it's all about what you use it for. I use my cell as my only phone, I don't have a land line. Also, I like to text and take/send pictures a lot. For somebody who doesn't use their cell as much, there's no reason to upgrade so often.

I love the challenge of learning to operate a new phone and so I try to change my phone at least once a year, finances permitting. As much as possible I get the cellphone that is interesting to me so that I will not look at other people's phones and get jealous. I had my last phone for 3 years because I had no money to replace it. As soon as I had extra money, I wasted it on a new one.

Usually I seldom upgrade my cell phones, as I am just still a student. I don't want to waste so much money on something that is updating all the time. Every once in a while, there will be something new on the cell phones. I prefer to have normal cell phone features and just use it until it's broken or completely unusable. Just as long as I can call out, receive calls clearly, and also message other people. That's quite more than enough for me.

My cellphone provider offers an upgrade every year and I avail it. But I do not fork out additional money to buy the latest ones. I am not a techy person thus, for me basic sms, email and touch screen features are the factor for choosing a replcement. I do not consider music and video features as I am not a music enthusiast. For me, since the provider offers an upgrade, I just as well avail it.
