Hi Riya, I am doing myself these works. Sometimes I feel lazy to the works but once I started then I can finish the same easily. I think washing utensils is one the major work at home. Sometimes my hubby helps to me to wash the utensils but most of the time I am refusing his service you know why, then he may ask, what are you doing with these much dishes we are only four people… etc etc. I may get angry because I can’t explain why I use or when I use..... .

Sree men cannot understand these things. This is a comment I also get. They simply cannot understand how many vessels would get used up in packing lunch, making cofee, etc etc and that too when we are in a hurry.I would respons the same way.

Hi Riyasam I hate this. This is the worst drudgery in our households [in Indian households where we use more vessels because we get into much more elaborate preparations and coffee , tea, etc.., through the day.]I do have a maid , in fact, now I have two ; this is a very recent development. EARLIER, i was struggling to retain one and every now and then she would make herself absent.I used to find this household chore a most tedious one.My husband washes his own plate and cup but this is not all.The cooking vessels contribute to the major share of work and I do nothave the heart to allow husband or son to partake of this responsibility. So, after aperiod I just mentally woudl reconcile myself to the fact that servant is a problem and so I would grin and bear it.Hope my servants stay with me longer this time.

No Sree. In Mumbai they are not only expensive but quite aggressive too. Here we pay Rs 350 for one task[ washing vessels is one task; cleaning the floor is another; clothes is a separate task].

Hi dear, Exactly, we can't trust them and depend much. In our place a made is really costly; I heard that in Mumbai they are available in low rate. You again lost your star, I too. Now I am happy you know why, I was in a tension when I will lose my star now that tension is over.

Hello my friend riyasam Ji, Well, I am sorry to dis-appoint you, but I do not fall under your way. I love washing my utensils and never wait for Maid , who turns up at exactly 7 O'Clock every morning, by that time at least we must taken five times tea in her absence, and it means all those cups would remain un-washed and I do not have so many sets. I love washing. I wash them with worm water and soap and further keep them dried for next use. May god bless You and have a great time.

Hi Riyasam, It is not a matter of I like to do it or not,but then I still have to wash the dishes after finish my meal. Or else, the plates and utensils will be always sleep at my kitchen basin. I always do hope I have a maid who will wash it for me.But too bad I don't have one at home. So I have to do it myself. Sometimes,my husband do help me to wash some plates and utensils.but most of the time, I do it by myself as my husband has to takecare of my son when I am at the kitchen doing my things. I wil always make sure no more sticky and oily stick to all the plates and utensils before I wipe them dry and arrange nicely to the dish racks.

Well, we have a dishwasher so unless it is something that should only be washed by hand, or something really soaked on good, we use our dishwasher, but I can remember many times before I had a dishwasher having to do dishes by hand and what a chore it is, and it can wear you out as well. I think the biggest part of it is to make sure and stay on top of it so you don't have to spend too much time doing everything up as well.

This is one department that I loathe doing. I enjoy cooking and everything that link with the joy of cooking and eating. I can do cooking all day if needed provided I have an assistant to do the washing up and clearing the tables. My daughter is usually the one who do all the dish washing and tidying up the kitchen after I finish my cooking or after each meal.

I live with my 3 year old... and we do not have a maid... so i do everything in the house... and washing dishes is like my favorite thing to do... aside for that... i don't like looking at a cluttered sink... so i wash everything immediately after using them...

that is one of the plus point of not having a maid,it is always good to wash the utensils immediatedly after using them,i have a habit of piling them up and then it becomes a chore.

When I was home in Italy we just use to put the dishes in the dishwasher. Here i don't have a washer so I use my hands...I sing when I do household chores like the dishes and that makes the work load seems easier.

I do not like keeping a maid to do the washing of utensils. One of the reasons being that since I am not at home the maid will just come and do get job and go away and I dont think they do a good job when we are not around. However tired I may be I always do the dishes myself.

we have kids who help my wife in everyday's house chores and that includes washing the dishes. the eldest daughter usually is in-charge of the washing but when she's not available, my wife does and i even do it too, if people in the house are not available or too busy with other tasks.

yes i agree on neil, you can train them.. that's the best time to train them because they are still young and they can easily catch up things, not like to the old ones, they are very hard to teach on.. it's what i have observed to my cousins..

I hate washing dishes. My grandmother loved to wash dishes and washed them many times a day even with a diswasher. I could wash dishes at my house about three times per day, but I put it off as long as I can and only wash dishes once a day. Happy Mylotting.

hi riya, we don't have a maid, so we do the house hold chores everyday.. i started washing dishes when i was in elementary, as a younger sister i do them after school, i enjoyed it when i was young, and i think kids like it also because i play the bubbles and blow them on the wind.. but now i already stop it, since i am working already i have no more time to do it, and i let my younger brothers do my job now.. and i think they enjoy it already and learn to understand why i can't wash them now.. it's all because i am already working, hugs and kisses, janebeth.

Hello riyasam, There is no problem for me if I wash the dishes. Actually, we don't have maid to do it for us. so, me and my husband share our household chores. Sometimes, my mother in law would also help with our chores since both me and my hubby is working. Some times on a weekday, I don't wash the dishes since I leave the house very early in the morning and arrive home late at night, so the rest of the time would be spent in front of the PC, or for teaching my son with his lessons. Don't have enough time to wash the dishes. But for sure on a weekend I do the dishes. Happy posting

It is just me and my husband and we just rinse the dishes then put them into the dishwasher. It takes about 4 days to get it full enough to run it. I am the one that takes the dishes out and put them up after they have cooled off the next day.

when i was younger, washing dishes was one of the many household chores that i did. i still can remember that washing dishes was always the cause of every argument after meals. we had this assignment who washed dishes when and we do it on rotation. there were siblings who were a bit naughty and who purposely escaped and missed their turn in washing dishes and that caused confusion of who was the last who washed the dishes. i can only smile now as i reminisce these events. now with my own family, it is a deja vu here. my 3 children rotate too in washing dishes and sometimes, petty arguments arise because of it. who else hates washing dishes? lol...

Everything goes to the dishwasher in my household. However, I sometimes feel that it is 2x the work because I have to clear the plates of food debris, rinse them before loading them to the dishwasher. And, after the program is completed, I have to take them all out and put them back in the cupboard.

No, I absolutely HATE washing dishes, especially since no one in my house thinks that they should do anything to help. It's my own fault, when they were young I didn't make them help me and now that they're older, they think it's ok to leave a mess for mom. Meanwhile, I work full time, commute, and write online -- and am working on several books. So my sink is always full and I'm angry the minute I go into my kitchen. Oh, yeah, nobody else cooks either...
