I hate brussels sprouts..It tastes really awful. I hate it the most when it is boiled. I remembered my mum used to force me to eat those nasty ittle things and I would always run away from them.
Years have passed and I have decided to try it again. I experimented with different types of cooking methods such as deep frying, sauteing, grilling..etc expect boiling but to no avail. I still hate brussels sprout. I called it "vegetable from hell".
Anyone likes them? Share you thoughts...
Happy mylotting and enjoy some brussels sprout

Hi theonlyone
although perhaps a childhood nasty if your Mum overboiled them into a pile of mushy green sludge if cooked correctly they are indeed a delight to eat, in fact in this house they are considered a treat, as only available for about one month a year, and you'll find that frozen ones are more reminiscent of you mums cooking. Put a cross in the top and add to boiling water for no more than three minutes to produce the perfect sprouts.

I love brussels sprouts and always have. When I was little I called them baby cabbages. My dad was telling me about something he read a while ago, apparently you're genetically programmed to like or dislike veggies like brussels sprouts. It's called the non taster gene (or something like that) and those who have it don't taste the bitterness as much. Those who don't have it have more taste buds and can detect the bitterness in things like brussels sprouts. So if a kid says they don't like them then they might actually be genetically programmed to not like them!

I'm not sure I've ever had brussel sprouts. I always hear about them, but my mother must not have liked them, because she would make me all other kinds of vegetables and have me eat them, but never brussel sprouts! From your description, though, I don't think I'll be trying them any time soon. Have fun with your cooking!

You should try it once. Some people like it a lot and they can chew the entire bowl of those little nasty stuff.
Thanks for the reply. Happy mylotting...

I love Brussels Sprouts! You can pretend you are a giant eating whole cabbages lol! Seriously though alot of people don't like them becasue they have always been overcooked. Other responses here are correct when they say to make a cross and boil for 3 minutes in salted water. Once they are cooked I agree with the comment about tossing them with bacon and butter. A bit of nutmag and grated cheese is good too. I know someone who would cook them and chuck some crumbled blue cheese and smoked bacon through them , it was divine. Oh wait, you probably don't like blue cheese either hehe.

I love to eat brussels sprouts. I cook them quite often at our home. I love the sharp taste of brussels sprouts. I have been eating brussels sprouts since I was young. They are delicious to me.
