Firewall Disable

I am having a problem sending emails from an email service Incredimail, All my new mails go to by outbox instead of to who I am sending them. I contacted them and they told me to ininstall the program an reinstall the new version and that should solve the problem. I did that, it did not solve it. I recontacted them and now they are telling me to disable any firewalls I have installed. Is that safe and if so, how do I do that? I run Vista. I dont know much about this computer past using it..Any help out there is appreciated..Thanks in advance Joyce

Disabling firewall for a while to see if your mail can really go out is ok. If it did then your firewall is the one that block it, if not then something is wrong with your incredimail outboud settings. Do not forget to re-enable your firewall after this. In case your firewall is the culprit, you just have to make an exception setting in it, to allow incredimail. If its the incredimail setting then ask them again for the right outbound settings.

Thanks ferdz I have checked firewall and it is not the problem so as you suggest, the problem has to be with outbound settings which Iam waiting for now..I appreciate your help..
This is my first computer and there is so much to learn..Sometimes I get a little overwhelmed...sigh..:)

I think...firewall is disabled by administrator...because of nay problem.. i think you should restore your system on last good working day's of computer...then problem..will solved..

DO NOT DISABLE YOUR FIREWALL FOR ANY REASON!!!
I use Incredimail also and I use it with TWO firewalls on my laptop: PC Cillin and Windows XP. Firewalls help protect your computer along with a good anti-virus program like the one you mentioned. Check your anti-virus program settings and set it up to ALLOW Incredimail to work WITH IT, not without it. I did that with successfully my PC Cillin and I use Incredimail without any problem. Call McAfee or go to their help site for advice on how to allow your programs to work with your firewall.

It's safe to disable firewall provided you have a powerful anti-virus & internet security system. You might face problems with many other sites due to firewall & to disable it, go to start menu & you will find something called 'control Panel'. Go there & you will find 'firewall' or 'internet security' & then you can disable firewall. Once you disable it, you will get a warning message every time you restart your windows. But nothing will happen because of your antivirus, but ensure it's a good one.

i dont think to disable firewall is the good way out
have you open the port that incredimail used to send e-mail ?

No,,,How do I do that..this is all new to me..thanks for responding and I have not disabled firewall,,I went into it and checked to allow Incredimail through but still can't send email out..Now I need to know how to set my outbound settings on Incredmail,,do you know how to do that? Thanks so much J
