Do you plan on buying an e-book reader or own one?

I have been gaining a lot of interest in the e-book readers. First, there was the Kindle, and recently Sony has introduced new e-book readers, the cheapest one which is $199. And eventually, ASUS and other companies are planning to come out with newer and even cheaper readers. I do a lot of reading on my PC and iphone. But it does get tiring after a while. I think the e-ink technology in e-books should lessen your eyestrain allowing longer periods of reading. Please share your experiences and opinions on the matter so that I could decide.

They're a great gadget. I messed around with a friends a while ago, pretty much hijacked it. Had to give it back though ... However, I love the smell and feel of books and enjoy browsing bookstores. Online downloading and a Kindle kinda wipe those pleasures out. I'd buy one - and I will be doing so. I travel between two countries fairly regulary and of the two countries, one isn't a native english speaking country so I struggle to find books when I'm there (currently 'there' now). I intend to use mine for travelling and when I'm abroad - otherwise I'll stick with my lovely books. The best of both worlds :)

I am glad you find it useful. But, I mean is it worth the money and having to carry around an extra gadget?

Yes it is. It's not that heavy - we're not talking a sack of taters ;) Plus they fit into a small bag or whatever.

I won't buy an e-book reader as long as there are regular books to read. I find that reading from anything electronic fatigues my eyes after a while and I don't want to do that by choice in able to read. I am so used to the feel of a regular book that I don't think I want to hold an electronic gadget in my hands to be able to read. Plus, I really like to read while taking a bath and I'd hate to drop over a hundred dollars accidentally into the tub and lose it whereas with a regular book it is less than ten dollars that you would lose. I've never dropped a book into the tub to date though.

Yikes. That's the last thing I'd want to drop in the bath! Maybe I should think a little more...

Never really thought about it but I read a lot of comics on PC so it would come handy...

Hey, Yes I personally think that if I would have the money, I would definitely buy it. Because I sometimes use my computer to read e-books almost everyday and it gets quite hard to read the book on a computer, so that would be great! Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!
