I personally know a few people who don't seem to care much about hygiene
person1: he doesn't like taking a bath everyday coz he believes we should allow our 'natural oils' to come out... His (yes he's a male) hair is so oily everyday... I guess he takes a bath twice in a week.
I have no idea how often he brushes his teeth, or if he ever have an idea gargles exist... he has the worrrrrst breath I had ever smelled (head-pounding, stomach-turning, unforgettable!!!!! )
person2: she is a mother of 3 kids... she's my age (30 years).. but I could still catch her with dirty fingernails, and ears!!! (goes the same for her kids)
there are a few more but it ain't that bad...
It makes me lose a little respect for these people ( yet i keep it to myself )..
i can't help feeling such way.....
What do you think of people who lacks hygiene?

Well, that is not hard to detest, hygiene is a must. I can't imagine being near someone so dirty. I have found some on my path and is just such a nauseating thing. I know of one at work. Is just nasty. Makes you wonder where did their parents go wrong of if they were just as bad or worst.

hi climber..that's what i have in mind too..
how they were raised by their parents...
we are taught to take care of ourselves as we grow up...we even learn that in school too..
they must have missed out on all those.

people could be so oblivious of their odor...we could smell them feet away and they can't even smell themselves....
i feel sorry..yet i can't help being annoyed too.

OH yes! Its incredible to find how some people live and go on in life based on ignorance, conformity, idiotic fears and lack of initiative. Makes you wonder how it really is that they survive.

I think it's awful that people won't clean themselves. Not brushing their teeth is so beyond me, I just don't understand. I've worked with people that must not believe in deodorant and it was so gross, it really made me want to vomit.

I am like you....can't stand people with bad hygiene. What me and some friends have taken to doing is buying beauty packs and hygiene kits as gifts for friends like that. Most have gotten the message...when we see the kids slacking we also acts as big sisters and invite them over for the weekend and clean them up.
This is something I learned form my mother who use to treat her siblings kids as her own because they did not take care of them.

Oh yes I think we've all known someone before that's been hygienically challenged" I once had a co worker with a really strong body odor problem. She was the nicest person, yet her body odor was so strong that you literally couldn't get close to her without holding your nose. I would often have some papers in front of my nose to somehow mask the smell if I needed to speak with her. From observing her and others in that situation, I always get the impression that most of these people have become depressed and just don't care about themselves any longer - sad really...I also admit on the rare occasion that I have to bus it into down instead of drive, that I really detest taking public transportation for the reason being that there are so many slovenly people who lack hygiene. I remember this man sitting down next to me who had the worst odor, well there was nowhere else to sit, so I took out a bottle of perfume and sprayed the air in front of me. He looked at me and said "PU". Said the pot calling the kettle black!! lol Well, as my husband often tells me, the average male is not very clean to begin with. My father in law was also this way, he actually had reminders put up in his place reminding him when he'd last bathed, and was never more than once a week. If it were my family member, I would have confronted him about his odor, but his kids never did. His odor was pretty bad...Fortunately, I don't have any friends with this body odor issue, but if I did I would certainly say something to them about it. People have to realize that even something like body odor can affect your chances of success in the workplace too.

lolz...that's funny ilyz...
but you know everything you said is true...
it does affect you one way or another...
an how people will treat you, look at you, etc.. will surely be affected.
you can't expect people to respect you if you cannot even take care of yourself...

I have known afew. When I was working there was an obese gal that smelled. She really needed to take care of herself. She also had many piercing on her face and was just not very well dressed either. Some people are just lazy and don't care. Some others are depressed and sick and need some help.

Ya know, Pat, I've responded to countless discussions on here about looks and attraction and all. I've never cared much about physical looks when I date someone. It's not my big priority but you just hit it. What I really can't deal with is someone who has really poor hygene. If they are smelly, it doesn't matter how "nice" they are...It says so much about them as a person. I can even tell the difference between the smell of sweat from a man who has just got off from a hard days work...now that can be sexy. It's that old body smell of not bathing for days or the breath that comes from not brushing ....that is a turn off. Same with the kids. You can tell the difference between a kid who has had a great play day and the ones that just are not cared for. If someone does not care themselves then you have to wonder what they do care about. I work in the public and smell it all the time.

Well, like it's being said, 'personal hygiene', and thus it's their own freedom to do it or not.. haha =D We cant force them if they dun wanna do so.. haha =D THough i will feel digusted and somehow turn off, but i will still try to make them see the benefits of being hygenic ^_^
AS for bathing, i dunno why your fren refuses to bath, because he will feel more comfortable.. BUt one thing u must educate him about, is his brushing of teeth.. IF not, once he start to have oral problems etc, it will only lead to much worse things..

I can never do that. I may be lazy to take shower on a weekend morning and sleep in, but I will make sure to take shower atleast once a day. I hate the people who has dirt under their long nails. I wonder how can people survive like that. It requires a little attention. I know people who has never cleaned their ears. I make sure to do it everday.

They are plain lazy and probably already immune to their smells. Some have related psychotic behavior, depressed resulting in disappointment from life trials. They need to be inspire and when the sources of inspiration is absence the efforts to be feelings clean, and full of life lessen. Thus the results are those things you mention.

OMG!!! Are there seriously people who are like this even today? Even when you do take a bath in the morning, at the end of the day you still find yourself wanting a bath. So, I don't understand how these people can go on for several days without bathing or cleaning their nails. That is just plain gross!

Hi Patofgold,
Seldom of this kind of people happened around me per your 2 examples. It is true that this kind of people exist, saying his clothes does not make it neatly, his face did not form it cleanly and not reach the extend of the mentioned guys. hehe...
The people you mentioned is not only for not caring much about hygiene, but also for not caring much about others' feeling. It will be disastrous for me if I met this kind of person and did not give him or her a glance of it in case I do not have the appitite for dinner. LOL..

What in the world would you look in anyones ears other than you kids ears!
You really dont need bath every day unless ya sweat real bad. body is like hair with to many washings you can wear it out like a pair of over washed jeans.
OIly hair just needs a shampoo that would strip the oil out.
As I dont work any more I dont bath ever day but 3 or 4 times a week. When I worked I took a bath every night. But I think I am very clean.
now a person that never takes a bath and stinks to high heaven thats might be a time to say something to them if they are a close friend.
And maybe she has been gardening very hard to keep nail clean when ya play in the dirt!

People who lacks proper hygiene really don't care about themselves. it is still important to think what people think of you. I know person like that and I even smell them but they don't care if they annoy people. Me, i don't go out of the house improperly. I have to be good looking lady when I go out for me to look respected. I hope some people do that too, I mean those who lacks proper hygiene.

Those are indeed very odd. Are they even aware of how they repel other people? Then again, if I'd consider the people that they live with, and they don't bother telling them of what they should do, I guess those that they live with also have the same dilema when it comes to hygiene...?
That's a bit too much to speculate, I guess..
Its really hard to tell them of such things. It might turn out to be an insult even if you just want to help them out.
I would often ask my sisters or brothers every now and then if I'm clean and I also get conscious every now and then as well.

Well, if they have been use to that kind of smell for a long time, I guess their body has developed that kind of familiarity which makes their own scent tolerable while those who have not developed any recognition towards that particular scent, other people, would surely stir clear.. I guess anyway..

I had a classmate during University that had foul breath and we'd offer him some breath freshener if ever we have some. He'd politely decline sometimes and its so a bit awkward to insist that he should have some.. I mean, he really did need it whenever we offer him..

hi pat.
i don't think i can handle both of them. they are disgusting, they seem to look so yucky. ewwww. we practice proper hygiene in the house and even my two year old son knows how to clean his ears. lol. we teach the kids to even take a bath at least once a day. but there are times we do it twice. my two year old son, gosh, he loves to take a bath so much. when he sees any one of us taking a bath, he will go to take another bath even if he had already taken one. lol

Hey pat! I think that is the most disgusting thing ever! There
is nothing more important than taking care of ones personal
hygiene! I wouldn't go even one day without taking a shower
and washing my hair! And when it is really hot during the
Summer months I take a shower in the morning and then again
in the evening! I can't stand when people ignore their own
personal hygiene! And for a woman with children that is even
more disgusting! There is no excuse for being dirty! And that
is setting a bad example for the children! Children need to be
kept clean so that they don't get sick as often! I don't know
how you are able to stand being around these nasty people!

hi patofgold,
i also notice that one, i have also a friend like that..
seems she really don't care about her hygiene, she don't even notice
that she smells so bad and we don't like to be with her because of that..
maybe they just don't like to be clean nor to be feel fresh..
i hope they can notice it back and change their lifestyle, it's for their own
sake and not only to them but to all that surrounds her..
hugs and kisses,
