I bet I lose both of my stars on Helium tomorrow.

I just looked at my articles and the article that has been setting at 4 of 92 has now moved to 12. I am so mad. I didn't think Helium was rigged but seriously this is ridiculous. That article didn't even get any new articles written to it! Now after a couple months the rating has changed! I also noticed some of my other articles moved down today. IMAGINE THAT. The day before payout, I still have two stars, but tomorrow I bet I will be hard pressed to see one! GRRRR
Has this happened to you with Helium?

Relax woman, one article isn't enough to drag you down. You can still post and pull up your score or try leapfrogging though my opinion is to keep posting empty title articles even though you won't get paid for them until the next time around.

Yes Virginia, that is exactly what it means. Santa Clause is coming early.

Stars only count on the last day of the month, so there is still a few days to gain or lose stars.
Rankings will changes for articles despite no new articles if others make use of leapfrogs and so so start new rounds of article rating.
Haven't lost stars but my writing percentage has been fluctuating by as much as 1% per day which I can kind of understand as I have done three contests in the last month.

Been a fairly successful month and got second in two contests this month, although as I said the competition aspects does mean that if articles are tanke then it can have a profound impact on the overall writing score.

Wow! That percentage must hurt. Mine keeps going. I am waiting to see the stars go away. Helium must be getting rich sense they aren't paying unless you can get a star. I know my stuff is still getting viewed. I just wish I could make a little more money with Helium.
Good luck on the contests. As I have had the stars this month only, I didn't bother with Marketplace. I don't feel the need. LOL I got (rated) second or third and never got any money out of the deal, so I am awed when people say they get money up to third place in the contests.
Glad to hear your stars aren't disappearing.

Sorry to hear that. I have had my time with Helium as well, although not lately. I did notice, however, that yesterday I had 5 rating stars and today I have 4 suddenly. It is getting to be the end of the month. Keep your chin up.

Thanks anythng. I can't seem to get this writing down. Scheng won't believe me, but I have been using her and Canellita's advice. I even wrote a bunch of articles to empty titles this month. I thought I would get a little something. BAH HUMBUG! LOL

How did you do this month? Where did you end up with rating stars? I only ended up with 4 (not 5) rating stars and with $20, not $25. Too frustrating! I am hoping I can make this coming month a good one.

This is why I joined, but never bothered. My work's worth more than what Helium is prepared to offer - even if I was at the top of the rankings 24/7.
As a professional writer, I don't get all this with stars. gimme the gig, pay me for the job - that's all I ask.
Luckily, thanks to a nice lady here giving me a link to her blog, I found a super London agency that's giving me more work than I can cope with. This month it's paying for a new kitchen. Okay, it was hard work and my eyeballs feel fried keeping up with the deadlines, but hey it's enjoyable and I've got a JOB with a regular income. The stars come with the praise I get. The dingbats come with emails like"Er - you're slipping into 3rd person again!" - but I don't lose any stars over it.
Dooyoo were similar. They give out "crowns" - but only to people they like. Some writers had enough crowns to do the states of Europe 10 times over. 3 of my articles were repeatedly nominated for crowns - but were "overlooked." Go figure.

I'm not concerned with the stars until they say that is how they pay! GRRRRR. I personally like AC better, just for this reason. I think I will have to go back to AC only. LOL I really tried this month to put some articles on Helium and raise my percentages. I guess I will stop worrying what a collective group likes and use the website where it is all based off of numbers. I hate rating articles anyway, and sometimes I know I am not the fairest person. I bet there are others that feel the same way.

I can't believe how blur you are! All the while Canellita and I had been telling you to leapfrog your articles towards the end of the month, aren't you listening?
I wonder what's wrong with your eyes or your head!
The fact that you can improve your writing score by leapfrogging the articles, mean that you will pull down the ranking of other writers. If you leapfrog and your bottom article reaches the top, that means the top article will go down the rank!
It's so simple a logic! What kind of worm stays inside your head and eats up all the brain cells?

Writing score is updated daily, but the number of stars at the end of the month is crucial.
As long as the writing stars shine brightly at the end of the month, then you can get the upfront payment.
Either you start to leapfrog some articles, or write to empty titles now. There is no need to leapfrog articles with 2/2, it's not counted yet. Leapfrog those 3/3 or 2/3.

My articles weren't worth leapfrogging because they weren't low in rank. Overnight, now they are. Isn't the 25th the cut off? Should I leapfrog them today? I think most of my articles are 1 of 1, 2 of 2, 5 of 5, and 12 of 94. The only one I would bother to leapfrog is the 5 of 5 or the 2 of 2. What good will that do? It just happened all at once. Who would have thought? When do they update the stars and I will let you know how bad it effected me.

Helium's rating is all based on peer review, so there are bound to be unexpected ups and downs. My highest earning article remains stubbornly at 3 of 3, while earning more each month than everything else added together. Helium works in a mysterious way, its wonders to perform! At least you're earning, so don't worry too much. It's too easy to stress over it, and then your writing will suffer.

LOL. You are so right. I wish I could just do without worrying about the things around what I do. I think it is a good philosophy not to worry about the little things like the stars. As long as the articles make money it is good. I would just like to earn the upfronts as well.

The arrogance of the Helium elite knows no bounds. It's never the raters who are wrong, always the writers. A major amount of the raters wouldn't know good writing if it bit them on the a@@. I'm not going to leap an article 50 million times because some idiot doesn't know good writing when they see it.
I rate only because of their grossly unfair rule and I'm not about to see them end up with money that belongs to me.
