A Question About The Newer Versions Of Firefox

One of the browsers I use is of course Firefox and haven't had any problems with it....but then I still have the older 2.0 version. I would love and wouldn't mind upgrading to the newer version, but every once in awhile I notice fellow MyLotters mention in discussions of theirs that when they upgraded to the newer version, they had all kinds of problems, including their computer crashing all the time.
Has anyone else have major complaints about the newer Firefox version? While I would love to upgrade, I also at the same time would hate having a myriad of problems when my older version works just fine by me--are there better advantages with the newer one that the older versions don't have?
Do you like chocolate chip cookies with milk? Do you unscrew an Oreo cookie and lick the creamy part?
Roses are red
violets are blue
I'm in a dilemma
don't know what to do.
Oh and hang in there folks,...I'm really behind in getting back to my discussions to make replies to my responders, especially my "ranty" one that seems to be a hit.

Honestly???
I would stick with the older version and hope they get it together with the NEXT up grade,
I have the latest upgrade and it's OK but quite buggy.
Problems:
If I have multiple tabs open.......which I ALWAYS have multiple tabs open, one will, without rhyme or reason, suddenly disconnect from the rest of the tabs and open in an entirely new window........very frustrating.
Sometimes runs fine......other times very sluggish.
At least a couple times a day I get various pop-ups about a script on the page has stopped or other script error messages.
Has crashed more than once.
I keep waiting for them to come out with a newer-newer version and hope these issues are resolved.
I've actually been tempted to switch back to an older version but then I would have to downgrade all my add-ons, roboform, etc..........so I'll just be patient for a while longer.
Their are several complaints on the Mozilla forum
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Support+Website+Forums
and people accusing FireFox of starting to turn out to be just like Internet Explorer which is the reason most people switched to FireFox......they blame FireFox popularity in making the developers complacent and not caring as much as they used to when they weren't so popular.
Anyhoo.......you might want to just stick with your older STABLE version until the next "big" thing from FireFox comes around.
ABSOLUTELY......especially if they're warm from the oven.
I try to eat through the cookie without disrupting the creamy center.

LOL--thanks for that Forum...like duh, didn't even realize they had one...I saw one poster wanting to RE-install version 2.0 as he liked it better but now can't and Firefox just redirects him to install the newer version---yeah, from all the crap you're listing here, think I'll stick with my oldie but goodie version
Thanks sconibear
Mmmm...I love hot out of oven cookies too

UPDATE: I now see from the post above me that you're on a MAC so I don't know if you would experience the same things I'm experiencing on my PC running Windows XP Pro.

Well, if that poster is a friend of yours, you can tell them to go to FileHippo.
They give you the option of downloading any version of anything all the way back to the first BETA version of whatever it is.

As a long time Firefox user, pyewacket, I would be misrepresenting the facts if I told you that the newer versions of Firefox don't always play well with others. On the plus side the newer versions are somewhat faster loading and they have made a few other handy tweaks. On the negative side I cannot access my favorite game site using the new version. It crashes every time. I have wished many times that I'd stayed with an older version. I also think they are upgrading much more often than should be necessary. Firefox also causes problems if you use Yahoo Mail. Sometimes the old ways are the best. I don't know why I continue to accept the upgrades when they come out.

To me it sounds like I should stick with the older version then...I do have Yahoo mail so don't want that messed up

I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.0.8. on a Windows XP SP2 operating system and I'm not experiencing any problems. I think it's good to upgrade, but not right after the newer version appears. When new edition appear, they might still have bugs. I prefer waiting for a time, so that some of those bugs get sorted out, and install the newer version then. The newer versions have newer add-ons which I find to be very useful.
I don't really like milk so the first one doesn't apply.
I used to lick the creamy part when I was a kid. Not any more

I'm using Mozilla Firefox on more computers - the home PC has 3.0.8, while the one at work has the 3.5. I'm waiting a bit before upgrading the one at home - sometimes you lose the bookmarks during upgrade and I hate that... I recently installed an add-on called Xmarks that keeps track of all bookmarks and passwords, and I'm waiting for it to save as many of the passwords as possible before upgrading.

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" as Ann Landers often said. I'm running FF3 on my Mac, and I'm constantly having to force quit and restart it (new session--if I "restore" it still just hangs there).

I had problems when they 1st released this latest version maybe a month or two ago. Now the problems have stopped. I think they released fairly stable products, but you never know how it will react on your machine.

I really don't know, but I would think no problems - probably even less - than PC users since windows seems to get corrupted so easily.

I just upgraded this past week and I haven't had any problems at all.
It does seem a lot faster and the security is awesome. I hate IE it
has always been a mess but some PCs can't handle the newer version of
Firefox and it will cause some problems on others I have noticed. I am
happy with the upgrade. If you don't like the newer Firefox you can always
go back to the older one. Just make sure you keep the older on on your PC
and don't just upgrade, download the newer one, try it and then you can delete
or go back to the one you like best.

Hello pyewacket,
I don't have a problem with the new version of firefox. It's just that some of the addons I have installed are not compatible with the new version and I have to uninstall them. So far that's the only hiccup I encountered with the new version. Unfortunately, also I did not notice any improvement in using it. Maybe it was just upgraded because there is nothing permanent in this world except change.
Regards,

But "BCMike's" last, or near last discussion was about "Firefox"...so there might be some input, there! Cheers!

Oh my, pye....congratulations, you a geek, me a neo! I truly admire those of you with such superior comprehension! My son is home for weekend, so I took the opportunity to discuss the likes of "FireFox" Chrome and all of the other add-ons with him, and he took the time to explain to me, with all their pluses there are many minuses, and you really have to be a "techno geek" to reap the benefits of these programs! At his work, they try all of the new features, and often reject them, due to complications...So, he suggests, I just be happy with what I have. I will listen! Cheers .. and Thanx!

I have never had any problems with firefox since I started using it. In fact, the only time I have had trouble with my computer was when I was using IE. I have upgraded firefox every time a new update comes out and so far I have not had any adverse issues to report. It always checks to see if my addons are compatible. So far they must have all been because I've never had to change any of them.
Chocolate chip cookies are fine. I eat my oreos whole. And I'm waiting and waiting and waiting...

you know what, i still am holding on to the 2.0 versions, i like them and i don't need to upgrade, at first when the 3.0 version came out they seemed to have a lot of problem loading images and were very slow and so i didn't want to use them, well but now i don't know if they rectified this problem but i guess i will hold on to my dear 2.0 and i have all the add ons and plugs i need so i would upgrade to 3.0 anytime . . . . just like the way it is .... have a nice day pyewacket!

As far as my knowledge is concerned, firefox is the fastest browser I have ever used. It is of the first kind to have been made available with tabs with which we can browse many things without confusion. Safety wise, I have got some doubts because it easily allows adwares into our system and allowed it to disturb us. The latest version is really very cool. You can stream online videos without requiring any additional plugins.

if you are well ok with your old version of firefox then i would suggest that you stick with it for a little bit longer until the new version has been completely corrected.Unless, there are applications you need from the new version. Yes, there a few out takes of the new version on my side of the world but so far, so good. I am happy with it. Mind you, this also happened during the first few months of the old version. Keep on ranting!

I have this habit of upgrading my Firefox to see what's new thing it has to offer but lately that reason was replaced by my need to overcome its short comings/bugs like the dreaded "Firefox need to restart" thing. In fairness to Firefox, if you notice the frequency of mini updates, the 3.5.x's, I believe they are working on it in full force. I currently have their latest 3.5.3 but hardly use it as I am trying out their beta 3.6 alpha 1 Namoroka(my oreo cookies:) which is I believe works much better.
My windows is still XP, my office is still 2003, my photoshop is still version 7 because these versions works best for my needs. I've tried their latest but after weighing it out I find I could work with my current version much effectively. So if your Firefox 2.0 works for you well then fine, until you ever find the need.

I don't use mac much know its internal workings but in windows I could install 2 versions of it. I have the versions 1.5 and the 3.5.2 and its fine if ever I decided to uninstall one of them. I have 2 portable version too - 3.5.3 and the 3.6a1. I've just search and found a portable version too for mac http://www.freesmug.org/portableapps/firefox/ - with this you put it in your usb and you can use it in any mac machine with your own settings just like as if you're using the one in your lappy. This way you could compare the two side by side for your self. But if you are not comfortable with this things then check it in your forum for their experiences with it.

hi pyewacket my son just downloaded the newest version of
firefox on my computer.I really love it as it has that 'feature that microsoft word has,it warns me when I have misspelled a
word or have not put a space between words. also it lets me use more than one window. I do think I am going to really like
it as well as the old one explorer. I haven't had my computer
crash yet, nor any other real problem. three cheers for
pye, we love her and will not scold her for getting behind'at all. i am still behind on those discussions I made when I'thought we were moving to Antioch. now that name makes me
'feel ill, that and the name Claire. now if she had known she
could not afford to help us, and let us know at the very first'we might have been able to avoid all the crap that happened to us
but no,she had to wait til the last split second and then reneged leaving us homeless and broke. well now we are just waiting until my son does get a job and accumulates some money. so we are staying happyl

Firefox 3.5 seems to be buggy compared to the previous versions. I have worked with all version of firefox under windows XP, vista and Linux (Ubuntu).
What I felt after so much use is that the newer version 3.5 messes up when you work with it in Windows based operating systems. The interesting thing is that it shows superior and appealing performance in Linux based systems such as Debian, Linux Mint, Ubuntu etc.
Switching to linux is the best solution for those who really want to unleash the performance of Firefox.

hi pye,
if i'm not wrong the newest version of firefox browser is 3.5.3 and i have been downloaded this software about 2 weeks ago.
my experience using this browser is okay and i feel they made some good upgrade in faster browsing and fixing minor bugs. i like the addons features that only available in firefox browser too..
and i see firefox is better than safari, ie or opera, however its users still place them as number one browser but as they can not satisfied every users, i believe the programmer always try to make firefox better in the future.
