Well, I finally saw this movie and I have to say... it was way better than the book!
In the book I didn't even realize there was another guy in the picture, that Quilty guy. Very interesting!
I thought the movie was very well done. The book was too difficult to follow. Even on audio.

Did you see the 1962 version or the remake? I have onky seen the orignal version . I never even tried to read the book. Now I am glad I didn't.

I saw the 1962 version. It was on Turner Classic Movies. I didn't even know there was a new version, but while I was watching it I was thinking that if there was a new version it would probably be much more graphic. Back in the 60s apparently they can only have you guessing at what went on. But I think for a movie like this, I'd rather keep it the old fashioned way.

Yes there is a1997 version starring Jeremy Irons.I never saw it because the original is such a masterpiece.You are so correct,the new version was graphic. I remember there was so much press about the film.
