Hi Moneymakingtoday,
In chinese tradition, we hold family reuinions dinner few times in a year.
Lastnight I was having Mid Autumn Festival(mooncake festival) reunion dinner in advance with my in-laws.
My mother-in-law will cook plenty of nice foods and we will have a dinner together to celebrate some chinese festivals.
Normally, during Chinese New Year Eve, I will always have a reunion dinner with my families back at my hometown. When I was young, my mother will do the cooking(steamboat). But nowadays, my father made reservation at the restaurants. All the restaurants at my hometown comes out with diffrent kind of packaging for celebrating Chinese New Year Eve festival and It costs alot for a table. They will have some singing sessions from overseas singers and have a lucky draw session too.
It is good to have a reunion dinner with families,It bring our relationship closer and it is the best time to be together as a whole Family.
Wish you have a nice weekend !!

Yeah, I agree with Shia. In Chinese tradition, it is important to get family reunion ! There are certain Chinese festivals where family gather together to celebrate the festival and have reunion dinner.
One of the most important festival is Mid Autumn Festival. It is in the 15th of August in Chinese calendar. The moon on this day is a round full moon. And the family members get to sit together so called the union dinner, everyone have to attend, all will back to the parents house, make it all member attend no one can be absense, we just want a FULL and happy day just like the FULL moon.
I will have 2 reunion dinners for this festival. Last night I went back to my parents place to celebrate this festival in 1 week advance. Next week for the actual day, I will follow my hub back to parents in law place for another Reunion dinner.

We do hold family reunions, especially during festive season and special days. We don't really have a chance to meet each other on normal days. Most of us are working in different states. So when we hold family reunions, all of us can meet and do things together. I think it's also important to do this to strengthen our family bond.

true. although we cannot do it often because of our individual responsibilities, it is always a good thing that we get to meet and catch up things with the family and relatives.

Yes, on my mom's side we hold family reunions every year. And that would be during Christmas time or the holiday before the new year. We have been doing it for a few years now when us cousins already have work. There are only 4 siblings on my mom's family so there are around 30 something of us first cousins, aunts, uncles, nephews and grandchildren. Every year we go to a different place for the family reunion and boyfriends and girlfriends are even welcome to join. We really find time and effort to organize such. And we contribute every month for the funds to be used during that time. LAst year I was the treasurer, now, I am still the treasurer LOL.
Then we had family reunion of my grandfather's side where we get to meet second cousins. But we have not attended the reunion when my mom passed away because the gathering was not that nice since the grandfather's passed away.
Anyways, reunions are great.

Oh yes we do (or did, at least). It used to be an annual reunion mostly from my mother's side as my father's family is in the North. Very amusing and fun. Gives us all a chance to catch up with what's happening in each other's lives. 16 cousins, 4 uncles, 4 aunts and a grandmother (plus us 6). That was ages ago. Nowadays, we cannot do it anymore as a lot have moved to different places and even continents. It is difficult to organize such a reunion and we don't keep in touch anymore. I just make it a point to see my mother, brothers and sisters (including nephews and nieces).

Yes, I guess that was normal if you're a Filipino. As we know, Filipinos really have this attitude of maintaining close family ties. We are fond of reunions. We always celebrate birthdays, anniversarries and other special holidays such as Christmas Day and New Years day with the family. We always make sure to invite all our relatives in every occasion that we are celebrating.
