I wasn't really fond of naps, haven't really enjoyed them as a kid, and neither was a fan of it when I was in school and freshly out of school. But now, I crave them. I see my parents enjoying their short naps after lunch and just before opening shop once again. Those who take naps say that it's a great way to take a break and start fresh during the afternoons. But sometimes, when I do get the chance to take naps, I end up tossing and turning at night since I can't seem to sleep anymore.
Do you think it's good to take naps? Are you fond of them? Why or why not?

This seems to be my topic as i am fond of taking naps as it is good for health and it refreshes me.After my lunch I am with my friends they sit chatting for more than 25 mins and meanwhile i take a nap and before they leave they wake me up.As my father was a farmer I saw him taking naps after working hard under the burning sun.he would exactly take a nap of 20 mins and got ready for his work.I feel everbody should have the habbit of taking naps.I am saying naps not sleep.

Hi Rajeev.
I know you will never agree for those naps bcoz i think it is not possible for you to take naps as you might be liking to sleep and that also snoring.and those who snore are Fat and they like to sleep for hours together.for them nap in the afternoon is of four hours and with a blanket which will cover there face .I suggest you to take naps and be fit.by the way in my office if I have to sleep i dont carry bed with me there is a special room but i prefer taking naps on the couch and Wipro doesnt pay me for sleeping i do it in the breaks. thanks for reminding me to do my work.but again i suggest you to take naps.

I do love to take naps but I find it difficult to do so... Taking naps helps reduce stress and makes you more lively.

I love naps. The only problem is that I can never take a nap that's less than an hour or so long. I try to literally plan a nap in my day if possible. I think that naps are beneficial if you do it right. Naps are supposed to be 15 minutes or so. I dont sleep so good at night either so I generally look forward to my nap. I used to think naps were for old people or kids. Not anymore. Naps are good for one and all.dl

...Hi laydee, People who have stressful, high powered jobs, are said to take naps during the day, to rejuvenate themselves. John F. Kennedy, I read would take a 10 or 15 minute nap during the afternoon, I believe I read. How he timed it I don't know, unless he used an alarm clock. I take mini naps as well, especially when I have something I need to do and I am feeling tired. It works for me, and I go on from there. It stimulates the brain cells or renews them so you can function as you should. Take care.

I've read from a research study that taking naps gives performance boost for the brain. It refreshes your brain and relieves stress. And another research said that if you are still in your growing age taking naps will boost the growth of an individual. So I would suggest to all parents to have their children take naps. Taking a nap is absolutely good for you my friend.

NO, don't take naps. It totally screws up your sleep cycle. What happens is when you take a nap you may feel good, but at night, like you said you can toss and turn, or not even be able to sleep at all. Some people can take naps and still be able to hit the sack with no problem, but that could be a sign of a health problem. Other people can take naps and still go to sleep at night, but in the morning they feel exhausted and really groggy. This is because of the "extra" sleep from the nap. A person isn't as tired, so the body doesn't fall into as deep a sleep as they would without the nap. If you have any problems with sleep, don't let it go, it could be a sleeping disorder or an underlying health problem.

Sleeping disorder, I hope not. But I do need nap time everyday though. It is fine with me if I don't take nap too. But I would feel much better if I take nap at noon time. It is the best time ever. I would enjoy it the most. Please do not discourage me.

Hi laydee!
Sure taking naps is definitely good!
By taking a nap, we can be more alert, we can reduce stress and improve cognitive functioning. Having a nap means more patience, less stress, better reaction time, increased learning, more efficiency and better health. Each time I get the opportunity to take a nap, I grab that opportunity. I found it very helpful. A few minutes would be great!

You should take a nap , but sleep less in the night . I can`t sleep in the afternoon at all ,but that`s just because i`m not tired . When i worked for 33 days, everyday , a lot of hours / day , i must admit that when i had a pause in the afternoon, i was eating so fast, and then , even if i had just 20 min, i would sleep them . In the night, i was sleeping less than 7 hours, and all the day to work, it was a little hard, so i was sleeping every free minute. Even in the bus until the work section thouse 5-7 minutes . I couldn`t belived that in my first days , but after 3 days, i was doing the same as all were doing .

I love naps! I can't remember if I liked them as a child, but I at least tolerated them. The older I got the more I liked them. I do have to be careful not to take them too late in the day or take too long of one, otherwise I too can't sleep at night. I think it helps relieve stress and recharge before continuing the day.

A nap is good if you are tired. But I myself do not take naps because if I do I will not be able to sleep at night. Even if I have not slept well the night before I will not take a nap I just go to bed early and then sleep through the night.

Well, in your case, you shouldn't take a nap at all. Even you felt sleepy at the afternoon time. I would take a nap because I won't hit the bed until 11:00 P.M. so, it just won't affect me that much at all.

Absolutely! A restful nap once in a while energizes you. It is a great de-stressor and relaxing. I enjoy naps whenever I get time to do that. I think you should start the nap early at about 1 PM and it should not last more than an hour. You will get a restful sleep in the night.

I love naps and I always have. Even a 10 or 20 minute cat-nap can be refreshing if I'm doing a long drive or something.
I go to bed late and get up early so I really need some catch up and this sleep pattern seems to suit me. I used to nap for about 2 hours but now I think it's closer to 3 hours.
If you find you can't sleep at night after taking a nap then your night time sleep must be just enough for your needs. Maybe reading for a little while will help you. Just having some quiet time to yourself should be most beneficial. Try meditating too when you are unable to sleep. Just think of a short sentence that gives meaning to your life and repeat it over and over. I say, "Thank you for all I have and all I am" and also "let me be open to the abundance that is mine".

Yeah it is good to take naps but only if you are extremely tired after a long days work or lots of studying. Also if you have eaten a lot then if you take a nap everything will go well with you.I mostly do not sleep in the afternoons as i too do not get sleep at night.I will try to work in the afternoon the best i can or play some online games to keep myself awake.Yes having a nap in the afternoon refreshes the mind for the next section of studies.

I like to take a short time nap during lunch time too. Usually, I would like to skip my lunch, and have a nice nap before going back to work again. It just funny that I felt so sleepy during the noon time. I would like some rest before I head back to work again.

Hello Laydee,
I like to take nap. I enjoy taking nap, a long hours nap.
When I was in the school days , I used to take nap after school. This was because I got to wake up early in the morning, about 6 am. It did make up feel better after nap, hence I can continue the rest of the daily routine. If I over sleep inthe nap, I could have a bad time at night, getting hard to fall asleep, LOL.
After I start the office lady job, I no longer can take my nap. I still need to wake up in the morning, but too bad no nap for me. this has last for a few years...
After I get married I quit the job and I have my baby, I have my nap again. I take my nap with my baby.
And after my second child is born, I no longer hhave time to nap anymore. Busy with 2 kids and house chores...
