I sleep upto 7 hours during the night and do sleep a few hours during noon. I am told that a person should sleep 7-9 hours every day. While I find it hard to sleep at a stretch for 7 hours, I do manage to confine myself to bed that long. How long do you sleep at night?

I aim to get at least 10 hours of sleep a night although no matter how many hours I sleep I still am tired. I can easily sleep for 14 hours and then wake up and have breakfast and then go back to sleep again. I find it hard when I am doing things and I get only 8 or 9 hours sleep each night, that is not enough for me and I start to feel very ill. There is no set time people should sleep, 8 hours is an average but that won't be okay for everyone. As you get older you need less sleep and also it is good to aim to sleep in patterns of 90 minutes. If you say go to bed at 10 oclock and then put the alarm on for 6oclock you are more likely to feel tired than if you put your alarm on for 5:30 as you have periods of sleep over 90minutes each night and if you break that period you wake up feeling unrefreshed.

Before I started MyLotting, I used to sleep at 10 pm and wake up at 6 pm. That is equivalent to 8 hours of good solid sleep. These day, I only sleep 6 hours because I will be MyLotting until midnight, at least. Sometimes, I will be keyboarding up to possibly 1 am. Yes, there were days when I was tossing and turning on the bed but not sleeping. Should have got up and MyLot some more!

hii...in holidays i sleep for 10 to 12 hours till afternoon....i know its better to sleep early and get up early...like it is said "early to bed early to rise makes a person healthy wealthy and wise"...but in my school days i sleep quite early because i have to wake up early in the morning..so i try to get 7-8 hours sleep ..for a person, 7-8 hours is the best range for sleeping hours...

Hi Suchi
well i don't like to sleep in the noon, if i do that.. i am unable to fall asleep in the night and i can't sleep long after that, so i mostly avoid sleeping at the noon though i feel tired at times... well mostly i sleep around 6 hours at a stretch the whole night... well but it can also extend i mean like i could sleep even for more than 10 hours at a stretch, don't know what it depends on but sure i mostly like to sleep around 7 hours on an average... sleeping for around 7 hours is the best for most people i guess . .. have a nice day suchi!

Under normal circumstances ,7 to 8 hours is normal sleep time. But sometimes i stay up all night , though it is not a good habit. If a person have no enough sleep time , he will be very nagative during the day . So every one should keep some good sleep habits.

Anywhere from 5 to 8 hours. No more, and only less only if I'm even having a worse time sleeping.
Since a while now I have fallen in a very troubled sleeping pattern in which it may be difficult for me to stay awake after a handful of hours sleeping and I'll just endlessly turn in bed, not knowing what to do, what to think or how to fall back to sleep. Sometimes I do slip back into my sleep, but, more often than not I'm forced to get up and start my day even if I'm still feeling a bit tired.
Other times however I can sleepy 7 or 8 hours though which is clearly more than enough, but, I have to go to bed early otherwise my sleep is still cut short since I seem to have a problem staying in bed past 7 (And slowly this hour moves each time earlier, since I'm unable to sleep in so late).

Now I usually sleep 6 to 7 hours during the night. I don't know whether it is enough for my health. When I was a young boy, it was always said that 8 hours per night was suitable for people, and too little sleep would result in different problems. But recently a scientific research indicated that it's good for an adult to sleep not more than 7 hours. In its view, people who sleep 8 hours per night would be more likely to die suddenly than those who sleep 5 hours a day. I don't know which view is more reasonable so I will keep my habit.

I sleep approximately 6 to 7 hours in daytime as I work in night shift. But I've heard that we should sleep at least 8 hours everyday..
