Hi I hope that someone out there can shine a little light on this subject because I am having back pain and I think that it might be from the last epidural I had when I was giving birth to my baby. When the lady was putting the needle in she hit something because one of my lags was shaking and then she moved the needle a little and my leg stopped shaking. But now I have two days with really bad back pain but it comes and goes and I had this pain two times before but it always went away in a day. But even if I don’t have the pain when I touch my back around the area were I got the epidural it will hurt as if I had a big bruise that has not went away since I had my baby 1 year and 4 months ago. Today I was told by my sister-in-law that they actually live part of the needle inside and that it will disintegrate by it self with time I do not know if that is true since I have never hear that before.
My mom tells me to go to the Dr. but I am scared and also I don’t have the money to go and see a Dr. because I know that they are going to have to do exams and I don’t have insurance either. But I am hoping that someone can tell me that it might be part of the epidural and maybe you might tell me a way to control the pain. I know I have to go to the Dr. but at the moment I can’t I am trying to get a discount plan but it is taking more time to have an appointment since there are many people that don’t have health insurance anymore because they are unemployed or do not make enough and are also applying for this plans. But any ideas that you might have to control the pain and why that might be happening will really help me. Thank you.

The nurse could have hit your sciatic nerve so you should be checked out by a doctor because this problem has gone on for too long. Normally, an irritated nerve will recover by now. I've never heard about them intentionally leaving part of the needle inside of you but, then again, I don't know everything. I did have sciatica for several months following an epidural many years ago but it went away so, again, you should see a doctor.

Thank your response and I hope that I can see a Dr. soon because this pain is now going down my left leg. I just hope I can get that discount program fast so I can be seen by a Dr. I know I can go now but I don’t have the money since it is really expensive when we don’t have some type of insurance or health plan. I also hope that it might not be some thing serious.

PLease have it checked just to make sure your back is okay. I will pray for you and hope that you have the stregnth to get thru this. YOur baby needs you and God can and will pull through for you. I never got an epidural because there can be complacations from it. So please let me know how you are doing now and think always your child or children need you. Take care to you as well.

desteny114 Your sister in law may be a sweet person but what she told you is a bunch of crap. a metal needle is never left in a patient on purpose as metal does not dissolve. she must have had someone tell her this ridiculous thing.Of course it is not true, I had an epidural with my first baby and while it hurt for awhile it did not last very long. You must get some way to see a doctor as nothing should have gone on that long after the birth. something is wrong and it needs a real doctor to find out what is going on. I know we all want to help you but not many of us have medical training and you might get a lot of other hooey stories so you need to see a doctor. How about the doctor who did the epidural? or the doctor who delivered your baby. he might want to follow up on this.,
