Copy & Paste - how often do you use this function? Do you use it on MyLot?

Here's the quick back-story: I was shocked to hear than another Paid to Post site (Post Parker) has deemed using the Copy & Paste function as against their Terms of Service. If you use Copy & Paste to paste ANYTHING, your account is at risk for being DISABLED! This was shocking for me to find out, because I usually type everything out on Notepad and then transfer it to the page that I'm on at MyLot. What if MyLot imposed a similar rule? Would you still be as likely to come here and post as often as you do? I'm a little turned off that PostParker has decided to take this route. I understand that preventing spam is important, but isn't this a little...drastic of a measure to take? And isn't it slightly unfair for people like me, who use the copy & paste function totally innocently? What do you think - is it reasonable for a PTP site to disable the copy and paste function (no matter how many posts you have)? Or is it outrageous? What do YOU think?

Wow!~ That's like cutting off the fingers? Haha!~I'm one that always use copy+paste or cut+paste!~ I just love keyboard short cuts!~ How can it be disabled? It's just like one is not allowed to use short forms in one's short messaging? Makes no sense at all

PTP sites should take a leaf from myLot on copy and paste Sometimes I use it, and sometimes I don't. Completely disallowing it can bring a negative reaction among the members. Have you brought up this issue on Post Parker? At the very least they will know the discontent among the members. Bringing the problem here is not going to solve anything, except for maybe to vent our frustrations. If I am the owner of a website, I would not like members to talk about internal problems elsewhere, unless there is a valid reason to doing so. As I understand it they may visit other PTP sites to see what is being said about them, and who said it.

O know it is notagainst the guidelines. I was only making a suggestion because I did not know that you had already brought the matter up over there. There was never any intention to criticise you for ringing up the matter here. After all, I did say that it should be alright if you have a valid reason. Forgive me if you feel offended by my suggestion.

I have definitely brought it up there, as well, as have many people in their "feedback" section of their forum. I was taking it over to MyLot to see what my fellow MyLot-members thought of it, though. I don't see what the problem is with talking about "internal" issues "externally" or whatever your term was. MyLot is my be-all end-all place of discussion. I discuss EVERYTHING here. I'm sorry if you aren't happy with me discussing PostParker here, but it's not against the guidelines, and other people do it, so I'm going to continue to. Hopefully this isn't coming off as rude, because I'm not trying to be.

This is surprise me that forum deemed copy paste as against their TOS. It is good that the forum shall avoid copy paste content but not the copy and paste function. Copy paste is one of th good function, sometime the loading problem will causing the long post submission fail. In this case, it is unfair for the poster to make the long post again and i believed that the poster will feel disappointed. Conclusion is i dont agree to disable the copy paste function but agree to punish those member posting copy paste content

You make a good point! I've noticed that their submission pages sometimes take forever to load, and that's why I usually opt to jot everything I plan to say in Notepad while it loads. *shrugs*. But oh well!

I don't use copy paste option because I always type everything directly to here. Sometimes I don't find time to read it again. Happy Lotting

Well I have never uses copy and paste on mylot before, so it really wouldn't affect me that much. But for the people that do I would feel bad for them. I think that it is good that they are trying to prevent spam though. Why do you use notepad? Why don't you just type it on here?

I use copy and paste once in awhile. I use it here on mylot if I have types something and decide I want to rearrange the sentences in my comment. It does seem extreme to not allow any copy and paste but that is their setup and rules.

for me it doesn't make a difference. i prefer typing things directly in MyLot, rather than using a notepad. but for some it might be difficult without notepad. also the websites have to take up some kind of action to prevent spams which is absolutely okay for them.

I ususlly use this copy paste fuction when I doing some work or write something. It is convineces. So it will cause some trouble for me if this fuction is forbiddened.

I just tried to copy and paste from a WordDocument now because just as was about to hit the post response button, I realized I wasn't replying to the author of the discussion but to a reply of the discussion. To save my answer, I put it on a Word document to avoid reconstructing my reply. When I wanted to copy and paste, a window opened to inform me that this function is available only to MyLotters who have done 500 posts. Obviously, I don't qualify but if I am eligible already to use this function, it would be a great help. I also like viewing my work on another window where I could check my answers, typo errors and sentence constructions. I agree with you that disabling this function on a PTP site is not really the solution and assumes that everyone is out there to cheat. If MyLot will do the same as Post Parker, I would still continue to post replies because at the moment, I am not a beneficiary of this function but am looking forward to it.

I use that when I don't feel like typing or something. I don't use it on Mylot. I like writting back to the discusions it helps me with my typing skills also. Than sometimes it's really quiet in my house when I typer I get annoyed and have to get off cause I can't get a day without typing.

i dont really use that function here on mylot as i dont that it is necesarry, uless you are doing a task and you write it before hand.. but posting and discussion every topic is diferent so i tend to just write it on the spot... but copying and pasting is a very quick way to get things done on the posting sites... im not sure if mylot will have that rule but since you brought it up, they might consider it... XD

I don't think it is fair at all. Like you, I type out the majority of my posts out on a separate program, then transfer it onto here (or vise versa). I've been doing this ever since I hit the 500 mark. Before I could do this I lost several posts (some were rather long) due to either a bad connection or mylot being down. Needless to say it was rather discouraging. Sometimes I'd retype it and make it as close as the original...other times, I'd just close the discussion and move on to the next. I hope mylot never does this, but if they do I won't be putting much effort into my posts, as I don't want to worry about losing any of my work. I'll also be one of the first to contact admin and make a complaint about it, because most of us here have worked hard to get to where we are and deserve to use this feature. Happy mylotting!

It's funny that when my posts hadn't reached 500, I was quite impatient to use Copy & Paste for there were always times that my computer broke down and I lost everything I typed. That's really annoying, you know. It sometimes discouraged me to be here again. But when my posts did exceed 500 before long, I found I never use Copy & Paste because my computer seemed to be working perfectly well. lol. However, I do think it favourable to be allowed to use Copy & Paste. We all have different habits. Perhaps there are a lot of people, like you, who prefer to type what they want to share in a notepad first and then copy and paste it. It all ups to different persons. I think it's rather absurd to consider copy & paste as spam. It's really unfair for those innocent. Anyhow, wish you good luck!

Hi maezee, I am also using the copy & paste function in an innocent way. I type it in the mylot but make a copy to my Word page so that I won’t miss the data if there is any problem with net connection. In mylot this facility is available only after reaching 500 points and before that it was very annoying. So I can just imagine the situation if it get disabled or stopped by the admin. Hope nothing unfair will happen.

I love this function and it really does make life that much easier! I'm sure that you are able to use this once you reach so many posts. I hardly ever use this on My Lot now. I use it a lot though when I am moving or copying files and text in word documents. I just don't know where I would be without this facility. It's very useful. Andrew

i have seen it as well. i was kind of new with the site but i do hope they would revert it again. those people with more posts already can copy and paste just like here in mylot, right? when we reached 500 posts we are now able to copy paste form our notepad. i like using notepads as well. it is more convenient for me and i could be able to recheck my posts as well. i just do hope postparker would revert that changes in them. jhelai
