Why people intended to tattoo on their bodies, A full tattoo on the back; along their arms; on the shoulder, and other parts of their bodies. Even they have to spend thousands of dollars on that, they felt it was worth every dollar. I don't see the point, and I certainly don't see why I would spend that much money to smear my body with that. For sure, I don't have the artistic mind of mine. I definitely don't see why it is so beautiful to have tattoo on their body part at all. Can someone express their point of views on that if they have tattoo on his/her body part, and maybe I am wrong.

....Hi clorissa123, I think like many people, that a lot of tattoos on a person body is not attractive. In some ways it is hideous, and if there are a lot, I think there is a deeper meaning when I look at Dennis Rodman's body with all his tattoos and I feel that he does not like himself. No way could he turn himself into a billboard of ugliness and love himself. Small tattoos may be okay but not desecrating your body with all those markings, besides the possibility of infection or disease in this day of AIDs. Take care.

I guess getting a tatoo gives one a means of expressing themselves to others through body art. Simply put, it can be a form of self-expression.
Though I do know some people who get the tatoos for the sake of getting one or maybe to make them look cool or something.

I got that impression too. Most people put up a tattoo on their bodies because they want to look cool, and everything like that. Simply put, they want to be fit. What can I say, they just tend to be that way, and I couldn't blame them. It is the way of life.

I don't think tattoos are attractive or beautiful! People do it for alot of different reasons! I have heard people do it on a dare. I know a woman who had one done because she was drunk and stupid! Some people call tattoos act. I don't! Some peole get tattoos to remember a lost one, like a parent or child. There have been tattoos to show support to a person's favorite team or teams.Other tattoos are to remember things that happen in someones life. I have seen tattoos that are tribute to ones heritage. Nicknames, too! Some people put their loved one on their body! I had heard alot of stories of the relatioship not working out and the person is stuck with a tattoo they wish they never had! In the NBA and the NFL I see tons of players with multi tattoos! Like all over arms, legs, shoulders, backs and even on necks! I don't know why some people go nuts on tattoos! I even hate seeing a women with ankle and foot tattoos! It just look right! On the arm is even worse or having alot of them! I will never understand this! I wouldn't and right know no one who crazy to do that! I really think tattoos are ugly! The more there are the more I hate tattoos!

This one i totally forgot! One of my nephews has 2 tattoos. One each arm. He only got them because he admired his first boss who had the same tattoos! Now my nephew regrets having them and wishes he never got them! Maybe in the furture when he has the money he'll have them removed!

I don't really mind looking at people with tattoos on their body. Its their own personal choice on what they want to add to their body. I personally wouldn't like to have a tattoo. I think people with tattoos see it as displaying their art or there is a story behind the tattoo (like to remember a friend or family member).

I remember that my friend showing me his tattoo on his arm, which has the name of his ex - girlfriend. He got this tattoo done when he was so in love with his ex - girlfriend. Now, they are broken up, and he has to stuck with this tattoo too. What a great choice, and a moment of compulsion.

I think some tattoos are beautiful and some are ugly. It depends on the artwork and the placement and if they truly reflective of the person wearing them.
Some people will never like tattoos and that's okay because it's not for everyone. I don't have one myself, I'd like to get one but I can't think of anything I'd like drawn on me forever so I'm okay with that.
Some people may do it because it's cool, but a lot just like the art form and their tattoos mean something to them.
I think more people judge you negatively for having a tattoo than positively.

Well, maybe there are people have it done due to the reason of moment of passion, and follow the mainstream, most of his friends had done it, why not me, I also want to be able to blend in, so I need a tattoo in my body, so I can socialize with this group of people. Maybe that is one of the reason too.

I saw many youngsters have the trend of getting their tattoo done on their bodies. It is unstoppable now, and many tattoo shops are open just for that. For me, it is like a universal trend for the youngsters. When their friends doing it, they felt they are compelled to do so.

I don't know what people find "attractive" in tattoo; in fact I find tattoo disgusting and a way of making oneself uglier and paying someone for it at the same time!
If you ask many persons who have tattoo on their bodies the reason they had it done, most of them will answer you that "it's cool". What's the meaning of "cool"? I've come to the conclusion that people easily use the phrase: "it's cool" to justify any action they don't have any plausible argument to defend. A good number of those who have tattoo on their bodies just had it done because their small heroes and heroines and celebrities have tattoo on their bodies.
As far as I am concerned, I'm old school. Tattoo is senseless.

I can agree with you more in your statement. I just don't understand that why people have done that, because of simply it is "cool". It just make no sense to me, and no thanks. I won't spend that much money to scribble on my body.

People tattoo their bodies because today it is the latest fashion. They see big actors and actresses going it and they too try to follow it.One thing i know about tattoos is they pain a lot when they are being put on the skin.If they put a tattoo which is temporary like a sticker there is no problem. It is just for show people put tattoos on their body. When i was small they used to give tattoo stickers free with bubble/chewing gum.

I'm not a huge fan of tattoos covering the whole body or being in super obvious places like the arms, neck, or face. I do think that if you get something that means a lot to you and is original it can be an expression of who you are. I wouldn't do it unless I was really sure about what I wanted and it captured the essence of who I am. It's definately not a decision that I think should be rushed into.

I dont care if people get tattoos. It is their own free agency to do so. But they should also acknowledge that if they are going to be covering their arms and legs and whatnot, then they need to realize they may not be able to get a job with the current public. SOme tattoos are very offensive, and shouldn't be accepted in public jobs, unless covered. I personally, do not feel that I ahve something that important that I want on my body forever. so tattoos are not my thing.

I don't have a "problem" with people with tattoos either. But personally, I find them absolutely disgusting. Nothing more ugly than a big ol colored splat all over someones skin, which other time stretches and morphs into some nasty looking 'ink blot' test.
What was that supposed to be? A fuzzy pickle?
No no, it was um... a dragon at one time... I think.
In fact I would say tattoos actually distract from a persons natural beauty, which is sad. Instead of seeing a nice looking girl, you see a faded splat tattoo on her shoulder.

Hi clorissa..Are you doing good today? I hope so.
Tattoo's! I don't mind seeing someone with a tattoo here or there on their bodies. I might be old fashion or something but I think that a woman who has tattoos all over her body is right down ugly. My son has one small tattoo on the bottom of his leg. To me that is okay. But my daughter-in-law on my husband side has the tattoo going all the way down both arms and up her neck. And she wonders why she cant get a good job..I have none and have no desire to have one at all..Good discussion..

I couldn't agree with you more on this discussion regarding to the tattoo on your sister - in - law. It not only give a bad impression on people who look at her, but also affect her job choices. It might not be a good choice to expose the tattoo in a job interview.

In times gone by, people tattooed their body with certain symbols to signify that they belong to a sect or a gang. The 2nd. World War saw a particular type of people being involuntarily tattoed with numbers.
Nowadays, these tattooed people think it is glamourous to have a tattoo or several tattooes all over the body. I find this very ugly and revolting. Looks like this trend is increasing.

Tattooing for most folks is a way of expressing themselves. My daughter and I have the same tattoo on our arms. It tells the story of the way we see the world.
My son n law has a mess of tattoos that tell his story. It's just another way of expressing themselves.
I don't mind tattoo's. When you think about people have been scarring and painting their bodies for as long as the human race has been around. A few would be some African tribes, the Aboringinies and who know how many others.
What about women or some men who like to paint their faces up with all that nasty make up. Do you judge them? Probably not. Their not any different than the tattooed people. It's just theirs washes off. The tattooed people are not afraid to bare their souls to the world. However, the people who wear make up are trying to hide their true faces.
So what do you think about it now?

I don't know what is the purpose of tatoo, in our bodies. What I know is that people have tattoo is from jail.
But as my ancestor said. Tattoo in the parts of their bodies show beauty for women and heroic to men. I don't know if that is true...
Have a nice day!

The body is the one canvas that can never be stolen, sold or taken by anyone else. I have two tattoos. One for my Native American grandmother (a flying blue heron) and a celtic knot for my Irish grandmother. I got them as an expression of how I feel about their contributions to who I am.

hi clorissa,
it's an art, a self-expression, an expression of love to for a loved one (who's name is engraved/tattoed in the body) and a fad! i don't appreciate tattoo all over the body but there are also some cute tatoos...those small ones.
yes, some really spent a lot for a tatoo and love the feeling of being tatooed.
well, let's just appeciate the person's way of expressing him/herself!

Putting tattoo has become an Art for some people. Its a trend growing up in the new generation. It can also be called as a passion for displaying the fashion...For me its a bore...As the look comes being natural & not by displaying some tattoos...

Well, I just remembered what my professor said about people having tattoos. Originally, tattoos are considered to be trademarks of people who went inside the prison. For them, each tattoo that they have in the body has some kind of meaning in their lives, like a tattoo for the name of a loved one or even a symbol for love, etc. But nowadays, the thought isn't really that applicable because some people would have tattoos even though they are not from prison, but rather it is their way of expressing art and beauty. Some could be against it but we must remember that we have different ways of expressing ourselves, and so there are some who chose it that way. They mainly believe that it is their body, and they have all the right to do whatever they want to it because it is theirs.
